I notice that the Pullman Hotel in Mascot (about a 10 minute walk from the SYD domestic terminals) opened recently.

Has anyone stayed there? Is it a viable alternative to the Rydges hotel outside T1?

Not stayed there but at the Ibis and holiday Inns either side and definitely not as convenient as Rydges. We would use a shuttle.
Stayed at the Stamford when it was a Sheraton. That is much closer to the domestic terminals and an easier walk.
going International nothing as convenient as Rydges.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Just noticed it too. Think it would be a bit more than 10 mins walk to Domestic and a bit rough on any carry-on wheeled beside you. I'd be beside drron on a shuttle. No competition to Rydges for International IMO. If I was desperate to stay 'Accor' going International, I'd stay at the Mercure nearby (and have; its not bad)

Pretty good rates for the Pullman for Accor members at the moment; $180/night in July, $150-odd for Sept-Nov, not including breakfast & pre-paid.

Thanks for the heads up, got nights for around $150 in September and December. I love the Rydges location, but I think they rest on their laurels a bit service-wise.

For the price, Ridges is cough. I'm sure you are just paying for the convenient location to international terminal

Actually a timely thread.Have been thinking where we will stay in late November-have F awards SYD-LAX but via MEL.Only given options of early morning flights on the day.So as starting from SYD domestic at OMG o'clock when shuttle would be dicey we will stay at the Stamford.

Bumping this. Was about to book prior to a morning flight out of SYDi in August, but checked Trip Advisor.

Sounds like its been a rough time since opening - some pretty excoriating reviews, on service in particular, and many of them on same issues. There are good reviews, but pretty extraordinary for a hotel of Pullman standard (supposed standard) to get this sort of reaction.

Also, price tells the story. $145/night in August!!

Looks like its going to be Rydges again ...

I had similar thoughts last month and went with Rydges
Better the devil etc etc

FYI, there is a new Meriton Serviced Apartments in Mascot / Sydney Airport that is opening next week. So this could be another good option, they normally provide excellent value for money and have good service/product. Although no F&B offerings.

I read somewhere they have an arrivals lounge for early arrivals so that is great for anyone arriving on early flights and there is a shopping centre onsite (Mascot Central retail) which has a Woolworths/BWS, Priceline, Cafes and restaurants.

Will check it out in the near future.

So has anyone stayed here yet? Would normally go the Rydges by T1, but it is stupidly expensive for the night I need.

I've stayed there three times (for a bit over $150 each time), and probably won't stay again. It's an easy enough walk from Domestic, but I remember sitting on the stupid shuttle bus to International first thing in the morning and wishing I'd just paid the extra, especially when the Rydges came into view. I might suck it up if the price difference were (say) $150, though.

Presumably their initial teething problems will be solved eventually, but as of December I saw no sign of that. The rooms themselves are nice enough, though.

Pullman Sydney Airport
Accor Plus Platinum stay between 28>29MAY2017

My 4yo son wants to live here forever! We booked a Superior Room with Two Double Beds, and we were upgraded to a higher floor. The room was perfect for us and the same one we received on our last stay.

It overlooks the airport so my son was constantly watching the planes land, yet it was also quite and had blackout curtains so you could sleep in. Their Accor status recognition could not be faulted; I had previously been in contact with the Loyalty Ambassador and received free parking on this occasion, this luxury was truly appreciated. In addition, we received two drink vouchers good for any drink at the bar, welcome in-room fruit/chocolates and a birthday bottle of sparkling for my wife which was a lovely surprise as I did not even recall mentioning it. I also requested and received a late checkout until 2pm.

My 4yo calls the Lounge the ‘quite café’ and just loves visiting at all times of the day for a lemonade. The background music on this occasion made our visits all the more pleasant. The staff are very accommodating, at breakfast, whilst there is an adequate selection in the lounge, they also provided some bacon for my son and an omelette for my wife.

On a previous visit we were informed that lounge guests can choose to take breakfast in the restaurant, however I was not able to confirm this, and as our room did not include breakfast we did not try. The evening coughtails between 1730 & 1930 were great and the staff provided a great selection of canapés, and beer, wine and spirits were all available

We again visited Mobius Restaurant and ordered their Fillet Steak for dinner, with the ‘50%’ Accor Plus discount making this very good value for money as well as being very tasty. Nothing was bad on this trip! The Pullman Sydney Airport has definitely become part of our holiday ritual.

Value for money? YES, Feb 2017 ‘Asia Pacific Sale – 50% off’ cost $139.50
