Good evening. Does anyone know if I can take a pull-up sign on board as carry on. It is about 850mm long x 100mm x 100mm it's like a projector screen but about half the size and it rolls up into a compact case as per the above dimensions.

Which airline and which plane? Sounds a bit big for a Dash 8 but might go as priority baggage. Of course this is assuming you can get it through security.

There was a fellow on my PER-SYD A330 last week with some surf-rescue gear that was longer and wider than your item, definitely wouldn't have fitted in the gauge. I suppose you can but try.

i had to put my banner under on the way to NZ a month ago, yet they let me take it on board to Melbourne. Maybe depends who is at the gate....

I have 2 that I just take on. I tape them together and just walk on with them. Stack them in the back of the overhead. Never been challenged, not even on Jetstar. Done this about a dozen times over the past couple of years.
