Priority Baggage

On the Velocity Frequent Flyer website, it says Gold & Platinum members recieve Priority Baggage. However, it is listed as Comming Soon.

I would check in baggage perhaps once a month, and would always appreciate my bag being the first to come out. Does anybody know when this is officially going to happen?

Looking forward to trying it, see how well it works. Compared to, other airlines.

It is obviously coming soon, they already do priority baggage for business, velocity gold and platinum on the a330 runs.

Yes please. I check bags all the time due to having items not allowed in carry on. I get priority check in, priority boarding and then 9 times out of 10 my bag comes off last. What's the point of being first off the plane only to be last out of the airport. And yes I am always in a big hurry with not enough time at my destination.

My bag was 3rd off the rank today in SYD. I don't think I've ever had that with the other airline's priority baggage, so I'd be perfectly happy to delay the system for now!

Having said that, this is the first bag I have checked with DJ and only did it to bring some more clothes up from my CBR house to my SYD house so don't have much experience to go on! :mrgreen:

My last 4 sectors were all with checked baggage.

3 sectors there was no difference, the forth did roll out promptly, which may simply have been good luck over good management.

Has this benefit started yet?

Ditto for me last night, first off the carousel.....have flown in/out of PER, MEL, SYD & BNE on Virgin since my status match - the only one so far with a priority tag was the SYD-PER last night......once they roll it out to all airports it will be great.........

Dunno about anyone else, but I'll withhold judgement until (a) it's rolled out across the network, including international and (b) it's been running a while to work out whether it's a "really real" benefit.

I had a purple priority sticker on my luggage the other day.

I have noticed that my luggage has been within the first 10 or so bags on my last two MEL-SYD & v.v trips in the last 2 weeks. Could be a co-incidence.

Flew OOL-CNS today. Bag was tagged with the purple Priority label at OOL. I was the only PE guest on the TSV -CNS leg and my bag was first out on the carousel at almost the same time as I arrived. Hope this is the standard that gets maintained. Still not sure if it has officially been rolled out yet though.

My most recent domestic flight was SYD-MEL in PE .. both bags were tagged with the purple P tags. At the other end, the first bag was first out on the carousel D) and the second bag I had to wait a couple minutes for, but no complaints from me thus far. It's too early to tell, but maybe just maybe ... we'll have priority baggage that actually gets priority??

Is anyone able to confirm what the rules are for getting the P tags attached to ones checked luggage?

I flew yesterday from Melbourne with my boyfriend. He's gold, I'm silver. He got priority tags and we were told that this had just been rolled out in Melbourne last week. This is for all platinum and gold pax. I had to wait for my bag

This is good news. I've been waiting for priority baggage for platinum and gold to be rolled out, though I try to travel with carry-on only where possible. What is interesting though is that it wasn't rolled out everywhere simultaneously. I flew back from PER on Friday with checked baggage, and there wasn't a priority tag to be seen on the carousel in MEL. It's a positive step anyway.

Flew bne dud last week. Had purple tags both ways. Getting there no dramas. The flight was half full so even with non priority would have been quick. From memory it was within the first 5 bags.

Coming back was different. Friends non p bag turned up before mine. Counting bags, I think my bag was over 20th off. Looks like staff retraining is required in dud.

It is always interesting to hear people's definition and expectation of priorirty luggage.

If there are 2 Platinums on a flight with checked luggage and your bag is the second out then this is still priority luggage

If there are 40 Platinums on a flight with checked luggage and your bag is the 40th out then this is still priority luggage.

Occasionally the baggage handlers get it wrong and start throwing non priority luggage on the carousel with priority luggage. Hopefully not too often....

Priority shouldn't be too difficult to organise. I would have thought each flight would get a priority trolley and those items placed aboard last, ensuring they're first off. Can't be that difficult, surely?

I got a Pac Bro flight yesterday back from CHC - MEL. It's the first time i've checked luggage on Virgin for a while. It was priority tagged and it came off 2nd (the 1st bag was also priority tagged). No complaints at all from me - it seemed to work perfectly.
