Hi all - did anyone book anything in the recent companion sale?

In a moment of indulgent impulse at lunchtime yesterday, I bought return SYD-JFK J-class for $5,499 (each). I know it's all relative, but seemed like a very good deal, and heck, if you're going to borrow money, there's never a better time than now!

Still, when it comes to impulse buying, I should just stick with the chocolate bars at the checkout...

yes - same. we also booked it last year and stopped off at LA for a couple of weeks. Thought it was good value, especially with the QF flight from LAX to JFK

Are you able to 'break' QF11 with a stopover in LA? I've taken this flight four times now (I love it!), and always thought you had to go straight through to JFK?

yes you can break it - we did it last year. check the terms of the booking. We flew Sydney-LAX-JFK and then on the return journey, we stopped at LAX for a couple of weeks (took an amtrak train to seattle, an alaskan cruise from seattle and then spent some time in santa monica).

If you have already booked, you might have to pay a change fee though.

Booked Premium Economy tickets for Per-Syd-Lax-Jfk, spend 5 weeks looking/driving our way across country and return home from Lax-Bris-Per. Had enough points to upgrade both domestic flights to J. Waiting to see if we get the return flight from Lax upgraded to J also. Hoping we get it as that flight leaves just before midnight and would like to use the lounge before hand to freshen up.

No- not really tempted. It seemed to be just a discount sale- previous companion sales involved a free companion ticket and this, to me, didn't cut it.
