Hi all, this is my first post but I've been reading and learning from AFF for a while now (big thanks to everyone!).

I've found a J fare SYD-CDG,LHR-SYD on MAS for ~$5500 in June/July, which seems like very good value given I've missed all the earlybird sales.

The fare class is Z, not actually J, which I think is a business promo fare (it is non-refundable etc), should I expect to earn QFF points/status on that fare given MAS are joining OW Feb 1st?

I only ask because I've heard of some J promo fares (e.g. SQ) not earning...

As a side note; is anyone expecting promos from QF/EK to 'celebrate' their tie-up?

Thanks!

You won't know until such time as it is annouced and published on the Qantas website.

And yes some airlines some fares don't earn. For example the Z (discount business)class fare on Royal Jordanian doesn't earn a single Qantas point or status credit, despite both being OneWorld. But as I said you won't know the story with MAS until it is published.

I highly doubt that a Z fare won't earn QFF points. $5500 for a J ticket on MH to Europe is fantastic though. Grab it! Good luck getting prices like that on QF or EK when when there's a big promotion...

We wont know until Feb 1 I suspect what earns what on MH, but the trend is becoming more and more that premium fares have cancellation/change fees as well as no points just like discount economy, although hopefully not to the same extent.

I've been looking at fares with MH as they are joining OW. Looked at Misa Travel website for fares in Asia and on fare rules they state that you don't earn any mileage points, on heavily discounted J promo fares.

For enrich miles accrue at 150% in J C AND Z classes, thats usually a good indication of how it transfers across to others.

Did a search sin-pek return in J with MH Total comes to sgd$2215 which is pretty good value. Here are the rules of booking.

Thanks for the responses.

I did look at some of their existing partners (Etihad & Alitalia) which both accrue 125% on Z fares, so hopefully that is an indicator of what OW might be too.

As mentioned, I guess we won't know for sure until it becomes official.

Cheers

I was looking at this too with the recent MH sales.

So QF won't release the earning table until Feb 1??

MH is Malaysian Airlines.

When AB (AirBerlin) joined oneworld the points earning tables weren't updated until the day of joining.

I flew MH to KUL last week and they had my QFF number in their system, apparently we earn points but dont have any priveliges such as premium lounges etc. I was flying business so had access to the QP BNE and the Gold Satellite Lounge in KUL. Am interested to see if the points come through and what if any status credits are administered?

Did your QFF status & number appear on your boarding pass?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

No it didnt and I questioned it and they said it was normal until the 1st feb, time will tell I suppose, otherwise I will alot the points to my Delta Account.

MH never have FF numbers printed on their boarding passes. It only states FQTV as an indication that your number is in the system but, even then, points don't always come through.

I hope access to the Platinum Suite at KUL is clarified for OWEs on 1 Feb!

Agreed - Can now book a KUL-SYD on MH to avoid the 'singapore shuffle'. Hooray for getting back to SYD at night now on a Friday rather than Saturday morning! :)

AY has published accrual rates for MH flights. The following are the inventories, where mileage is accruable:
First: A, F (150% booking class percentage)
Business: C, D, J, Z (125% booking class percentage)
Economy: Y, B, H (100% booking class percentage)
Economy: K, M (50% booking class percentage)
Economy: V, L, S (25% booking class percentage)

Essentially the same as the Delta table.
- Malaysia table for itself - Enrich - Earn Enrich Miles - Malaysia Airlines | Malaysia Airlines
- Delta table for Malaysia - Malaysia Airlines | Delta Airline Partners | Delta Air Lines

So looks like Economy: N, O, Q may not earn if this is consistent across oneworld.
