Can I get QFF points from Travelex even if I don't order the cash online?

Like, if I just swing by on the weekend and say "Morning, chief. I'd like a fat wad of Yens. How much will you swop me for this pile of Aussie plastic funny munny?" can I then slide my shiny QFF chit under the security glass and pick up a couple of thousand points?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

yes you can. You can either pay a $12 fee and get QFF or you can have $5 fee and miss out on points...

Last week I exchanged $1050 for IR and recieved 2000 points, today I exchanged $550 for PNG Kina, not sure how many points I will get....time will tell :)

So to answer your question, yes you can!

Yes, see here:

Earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points* when you:
  • Buy foreign currency with Qantas Travel Money online.
  • Buy or sell foreign currency or purchase a Foreign Currency Cash Passport at a Travelex retail store in Australia or New Zealand.^

* You must be a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program to earn points. A joining fee may apply. Membership and points are subject to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program terms and conditions.
Points are not earned on transactions less then A$50, on same currency transactions, discounted commission transactions or in conjunction with any other Travelex offer. There is a minimum order of A$250 and a maximum order of A$5,000 (not including fees and charges) made online at the Travel Money website. Qantas Travel Money is operated and distributed by Travelex Limited ABN 36 004 179 953.
^ Points cannot be earned on same currency Cash Passports or on reloads on Cash Passports.

I know you can at Travelex airport stores. I'm assuming you can at regular Travelex stores.

The problem is the value of the points is probably less than the commission you have to pay. If you choose not to get points, you don't pay commission. Unless you really need the points, or are using them towards J or F fares, you're better off saving your money IMHO. You can also get much better rates at other FX organisations than Travelex.

I would advise you to take a close look at Flight Centre Money's exchange rates. I bought Euros yesterday, and when I did the sums, the difference in rates between them and Travelex made the QFF points I would have earned not worth the loss.

Even though FCM are supposedly a variation on Ttavellex, they have no commission, and I found they had the best exchange rate once all the other's fees and commissions were factored in.

It costs an extra 1% when ordering through here https://www.partners.travelex.com.au/qantas/ to get Qantas FF points.

I value Qantas FF points at about 8% as I use them for J fare redemption.

Can save about 2-3% by buying from elsewhere... So about 3-4% cheaper in total. So if you use Qantas FF points for giftcards or Y redemption, then don't' bother.

Kvb Kunlun usually have the best rates I have found, so yes unless you are using it for J or F fares then get a cheaper rate elsewhere.
