Just had a look at some dates this month and in October and found the Plus Bundle for HBA-MEL has gone up to $35
Previously it was around $19 / $22

Has it increased on other routes as well ?

It has increased on other routes, it now includes 20kg of checked luggage :/

I was comparing costs between Qantas and Jetstar for MEL > SYD or to OOL or BNE and by adding the plus bundle the cost of the flight almost always was higher than Qantas, so I booked with Qantas.

Pathetic. Its put me off using them. I never have baggage on domestic but i DO WANT points and status credits. Im really annoyed at this

I'm the same, would really like the option to pay a little extra for just status credits and points

Jetstar need to learn to unbundle their bundles, or at least get real with the price of their bundles.

Just re-enforces that JQ is even less of an option going forward.

I have come to a similar conclusion, flying JQ when in competition with QF or even VA is just enabling/encouraging bad corporate behaviour by Qantas management. I would prefer that QF management concentrate on fixing QFd and QFi rather than their cargo cult mentality of giving Jetstar all the good equipment, all the capital and managements time effort while neglecting the main Qantas brand.

Exactly. If I need to pay similar prices to QF, I'm going to want the QF service.

I thought the whole point of Jetstar (and low cost airlines the world over) was that you only pay for what you use. If I now have to pay for luggage that I don't need or want in order to earn QF points/SCs then I just won't bother.

In future I won't consider the points/SCs and only consider JQ if they're the cheapest. That puts them in the same boat as Tiger for me.

I suspect with VA including baggage on all flights, this is partly behind this decision. Just another shifty way of targeting those who only need the basic flight. It also has been extended to International flights. But seriously a $40 bundle for MEL-OOL? FFS!

This must have only just happened as I booked a JQi flight a week or so ago and paid $55 and no checked baggage. Now $85 with.

Maybe this is the next step after dropping the carry on to 7kg to force plus packs on people.

Its not so bad on say mel-dps at new price considering the qff earn as a platinum is quite high. But for 800 points mel-hba. ... $35 is absurd

Including baggage into the Plus Bundle & thereby increasing the cost of the Plus Bundle is a step too far IMHO.

18 months ago the plus bundle Was increased by $5 on domestic sectors & $10 on Trans -Tasman sectors to include the F&B credit & now the plus bundle is increased yet again to now include 20kg checked baggage for which many domestic flyers don't actually need.

This now pegs the cheapest fare of the day on a typical JQ fare on say a MEL > SYD return with the Plus Bundle close to $200 return.
Not exactly great value & a further disincentive to choose JQ especially considering that for MEL the new LCC Domestic terminal that JQ will move over to will not feature a QF lounge.

On short sectors such as MEL > SYD, MEL > HBA or MEL > ADL Classic award bookings appear to be the best value in most situations ( obviously no SC earn ).
On both QF & JQ classic award bookings, these include 20kg baggage anyway.

Had the hand baggage police checking all carry on last week BNE -MKY. Many people busy repacking carry on and putting jackets on etc. got a nice orange tag to say mine was ok.

Its not so bad on long haul witha decent points earn. Plus most people probably have bags to check in when going to Hawaii.

I would agree on the long haul sectors such as MEL > NRT or MEL > HNL an overwhelming majority of Pax would require checked luggage & on these sectors the included checked baggage allowance with the Plus Bundle would be advantageous.

Booking SYD to AKL return and the plus bundle adds an extra $57 each way. Its a bit of a slap to the face for customer loyalty! Will be interesting to see if this changes with Scoot and Tiger joining the Kris Flyer programme.
