I normally fly EY/VA and pretty every time am given an exit seat or where possible have 2 or 3 seats blocked off for me. I will be flying SQ on Sunday LHR-SIN and just wondering if any Platinum members have experienced preferential (exit/extra legroom) seating with SQ?

You can try but I doubt they give preferential treatment to VA plats. once in the aircraft they treat you based on the cost of your ticket!!!

Prior to airport check in SQ don't even give preferential treatment to their own elites (PPS) in seating allocation other than position in plane (they may to the superelite Solitaires, I don't know). However, leaving allocation to airport checkin, I often have an empty seat beside me, but takes a big leap in faith for long sectors. You may ask at check-in and if there is space they may accommodate your request, although I imagine they wouldn't differentiate treatment of Virgin golds & plats (who would also be lumped in with KF gold and star gold), so you could have some competition. Have you seen the seating chart, whether full or not?

Seating chart shows the plane as sold out but there maybe some seats blocked by SQ. Bit frustrated as was allocated 31B ( Bulkhead so extra legroom but also where the basinets are) I managed to move myself to a window exit seat and received and received an email confirming the move, checked today and have been moved back to 31B

Most certainly nothing special on SQ in my experience. Although, you do have a much better chance at getting some prefferential treatment upon checkin in at the J class counter than reguar Y. SQ's system currently doesn't pick up DJ status so the chances of anything special other than the listed benefits is slim to none.

Often SQ systems are not able to pick up even their own status members. I had a few instances where I have had to remind them of my PPS status when they are calculating extra luggage penalties. Having been a Kris Gold for over 6 years and a PPS club member for the last one year, You will realise SQ's benefits will be exactly whats published. SQ doing anything extra than those benefits are extremely rare. So as a DJ plat. I would be surprised if you receive anything special. But do ask and if you are lucky, the CSO maynot have the rulebook with him/her at the time.

31B is as far forward as you can get, so must be something at play here! IIRC the window exit seats (downstairs on A380) may not be the best for legroom anyway (although obviously great for getting out of seat), due to door/escape slide protrusions, which is why they are available free of charge. Which flight is this? On Expert Flyerr you can tell which seats are blocked vs which seats are occupied.

@dajop - it's SQ321 this Sunday, looking at Expert Flyer a few more seats are now available but nothing worthwhile changing to oddly 31B is showing as vacant but my booking still says i'm in that seat?

I will concur and say with SQ you get no special treatment/acknowledgement at all. I flew J class a few times Per-Sin and beyond and each time was seated last row of business class if I booked through VA. If booked through SQ at least could select own seat.

Boarding pass doesn't mention DJ Plat or anything unlike NZ.

I would have thought SQ would have a curious habit of looking after their own...........

Halfway through the flight now, in Singapore, the allocation system seems to have picked status up and put me in exit seats for both legs:)
