So this morning I got the usual platinum news letter and in it contained an ad for an up to 20% off coupon for use in bookings until 30/5 for travel to 4/5/2020

Short of calling in to qantas (and probably being pinged a phone booking fee) I can’t find any other way to use this WP discount

Any one have other suggestions?

Offer below:

Yes. Just read it. I was wondering the same. Only way to check would be to price a flight without logging in then log in and price again.

At the bottom of the extract you've included above (after clicking through from the link in the email), there's a space to sign in to redeem. When I sign in, it takes me to this...

Oddly mine doesn’t seem to link me to the online booking but instead a big red button to find my local reservation service

I’ve also tried to copy and paste your linkand it says that it can’t verify that I qualify for the offer..... now I’m just confused

Did you all enter the competition to win business class tickets to Japan?

It could be because you, and I, are not Australia based, as my email too had the link for "Find your local reservation office"
This had me thinking about my family's Christmas holidays flights....

I have just attempted dummy bookings using the equivalent P1 offer (it is exactly the same).

It does not matter if I go in through the offer links (which takes you through the screen as per @Fergo747 above) or straight from normal booking - no matter which way I try I cannot seem to trigger the discount. (In each attempt I took it right through to where the next click is to actually pay for the trip).

Got me buggerred........ ????????

Got it to trigger going via the link. for Brisbane to Sydney I see:

FlexBusiness
Platinum offer384710
Qantas Business Rewards442769 (so much for 7% discount)
Normal473769

So only about 6% off on business, not 20% (but maybe that's 20% from full business?)
Close to 20% off the Flex fare. Nothing on red-edeal
Wonder why there is no discount on teh business fare, supposed to be 7%

Checked also sydney to hong kong, prices were about the same as I was seeing last week.

Fascinating to see in the newsletter that Dubai is the third-most popular international destination. Shows how important the Emirates alliance is to Qantas.

Isn’t it a discount off the base fare? So taxes are the same so it will always be less than the 10% / 15% / 20%

Well yes, of course. And I didn't check the various components. So for example the flex discount on total price was about 18.8%, hence well that's gotta be 20% on base fare.
But the business fare discount is 7.6% on total price and I do not believe that would be the same as 20% on the base fare. If that was 20% of the base fare, then the base fare would be $295 and the taxes $474. Sure Qantas has high "taxes" but I'm pretty sure not that much.

Just to double check the discount on the flex assuming full 20% of base fare, means the base fare is $445, higher than the base fare for business ($295) implied by a $59 discount.

Things must be getting really dire for fwd bookings.....

Agree, yet they aren't desperate enough to make an offer that is competitive with my ( at least) other choices.

For once I have several overseas J trips planned a year in advance, now 7-10 months away, so I have been and can wait for a decent sale etc. ATM Qatar still have the forward business and I recently paid for a UL ticket.

I can't disagree that they're looking for forward bookings, and virgin australia are the same. Just interesting that the promo doesn't encourage me to buy business seats by providing the offered discount. (irrespective of whether the cost is competitive.

Right. You need to call. There was the same issue for the P1 offer, for those not based in Australia.

Had a look at the offer this afternoon and didn't find it to be that enticing. Shaved about $100 off the return trip I was looking at, any more annoyingly, when using a gift voucher it didn't appear to work... but then again maybe I'm being cheeky expecting to double up on 2 promotions ;)

Discounts only good if usual booking full or flex.

Still waiting for a good old style dsc QF, and spend many thousands, otherwise the wallet cobwebs continue to accumulate... are you reading this QF???

I found a bug with the discount page. I searched for Adelaide to London then changed to Adelaide to Auckland but it just kept giving me flights to London. Now I realise this Internet thingy is new for Adelaide but surely QF, an IT outfit in the big smoke of Sydney, can get things right?
