Platinum Complimentary Upgrades

Hi all,
Mrs D-H has 3 platinum upgrades left and is unlikely to use them before her year finishes in March.

Has anyone had any experience in transferring them? Can this be done? I know that she can use one for me if we are on the same booking, but if I'm traveling without her?

Or how about book a seat in her name and then do a name change to my name on the ticket? (I'm not sure this can be done?)

Or booking a seat each, upgrading them both, then canceling hers, get a refund and re-credit the upgrade to her account while leaving mine in place - complicated, but doable?

I don't think you have to actually fly them in the membership year they are awarded so you could potentially book ahead if you foresaw future opportunities to use them.

Or run your luck with the callcentre. I upgraded my wife using one (she had never flown J before) and they let me, and i wasnt even flying.

Maybe come up with a good story and try your luck
