Planning trip to Toronto Aug '19

So planning a trip for 5x (4x A & 1x then 2.5yo) in August 2019 to Toronto.

Have plenty (~3mil) of AMEX MR points and around 800k QFF.
Zero status everywhere.
reluctant to split the passengers.

Ideas so far:
1. As 5x need to go, we just buy economy tickets on Fiji Airways so we can split it nicely to LAX/SFO via Fiji for a couple of nights.
2. Buy Alaska miles and redeem for economy on Fiji airways too. Could try for J redemption but for 5x redemptions in J ain't going to be easy.
3. If we could split, Air Canada or United could be options via KF miles?
4. Could transfer AMEX to Asia Miles but that route via HK looks like has some availability issues at present.

any other ideas?

Sorry to be a downer from the get-go, but 5 award seats in J will be very difficult any way you try it. I know it happens occasionally, but if I were you I would be looking For ways to split the group in the most appealing way possible. It's a very popular route!

yeah that's what I figured.
so possibly option 1 and we just suck it up and break up the journey in Fiji and perhaps SFO/LAX. one on the way and one on the return
