Hello there, any recommendations for good Perth accommodation that won't cost five thousand fortunes?

I was recently - admittedly with only a weeks notice - quoted nearly $500 for a standard room at the Hilton so ended up staying at a Mecure or some such town down. Almost as expensive and not up to eastern standards.

I know Perth is awash with mining money these days but surely there have to be some reasonable hotels around?

Thanks.

I heard an advertisement on the radio on my way home on Friday for the Pan Pacific at a couple of hundred a night. Don't have any personal experience with the hotel or the chain, but it used to be the Perth Sheraton so probably isn't too shabby.

Sorry, don't know any details at all (might be a specific w/e special for all I know) - possibly worth a look.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

You'd think there would be a reasonable one or two around, but no...

We are talking about sleepy Perth here.

Packer apparently has plans for some super hotel, but as per anything in Perth, I won't believe it until I see it.

Crowne Plaza is good although the rate varies considerably

Yes, but not sleepy prices!!

Thanks all. Might give the Pan Pacific a go.

I find the only way round this to book well ahead (not always possible). If the price is high for particular dates it will be high in all of them is my experience. Needs more hotels for the price to come down.

Have stayed at Pan Pacific and Novotel (across the street) in the last year or so and both were just fine.

Yep I booked the pan pacific for a trip in Sept early and got a very good rate. Book early.

Get a life - it is happening and lots of other projects are are on the drawing board.

Jamie Oliver has selected Perth to open a restaurant.

Emirates eager to bring the A380 into Perth once the airport has installed the necessary air bridges, which is being fast tracked.

And the list goes on!

IMO changes happening are all good while still retaining its great lifestyle.

As they say on the inter web "pics, or it never happened"

Sorry, but why am I not able to express my valid opinion about my hometown here?

Weekend rates are reasonable, but this is probably not what you want. I doubt there are any cheap, decent, hotel rooms left midweek without booking well in advance

just booked the country comfort for an overnight transit in October - $205 plus CC surcharge ouch, think i will pay in gold coins

If booking a stay within a couple of weeks, expect to pay $300-500 a night and feel very ripped off by the place you're staying at. With 4+ weeks lead time you should be able to get a good hotel for the $200-300 range.

There have been quite a few weeks this year that Perth accommodation has been fully booked out. A $1500 per night stay at the Casino doesn't count as available accommodation to me.

Great boutique property - 8 Nicholson in Subiaco - $280 to $350 per night 4-5 weeks out...

Good business standard hotel in CBD - Somerset St Georges Road - $250-350 per night

That's helpful, thanks.

Just across the road from Central Park if I recall, so not bad if you're doing business around there, it's pretty central and has easy options elsewhere on the various bus routes (free inside the FTZ).

Sounds like a good town to use Priority Club points, now let me see, next Wednesday $423 at the HI or 25000 points which can be purchased for $175 USD, hmmmm? Now if one was to book that rewards stay at Mrrebates.com during the current 15% cash back and the hotel sold out, then the 15% would be calculated on $423 which is what PC pay the hotel for rewards nights when full, so that's $63.45 back, meaning the room costs close to $100.
