Will be in Paris in June for 6 days. Have liked checking out various restaurants and patisseries.

Plan this time would be

L'Arpege
L'Astrance
Chez L'Ami Jean
Septime
Yam T'cha
Le Chateaubriand

Jacques Genin

Previous visits

L'Arpege (love this)
L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon
Guy Savoy
Le Cinq

Laduree (will probably end up here again)
Pierre Herme
Poilane

Am open to any suggestions... more interested in upcoming establishments (before they get too famous...) and lose their special charm
Oooh too little time as always

Nice thread:cool:

La Fontaine de Mars
Fish La Boissonnerie
Le Florimond
Auberge du Champ de Mars
Benoit
Restaurant AU 35

KitKat I really don't know how you do it. More domestic flying than most of us could ever stomach and then you have to go to France. What did you do wrong? :p

Whoops, Sorry, wrong Kat!! I knew I should have kept off the G&T's. Misread it as AirKat not Kit Kat!!!!!

Had several lunches at Septime last year. Rate it highly and good value. Will try dinner in October when we return. In 6 days your lists looks very good but I'd add my favourite Guillaume on Rue du Fauboug St Antoine halfway between Bastille and Nation Restaurant Guillaume It's excellent food and ambiance but not haut cuisine. Try it if you need a rest from your indulgence. Report back on your opinions please !

Septime

Septime

Lunch
Carte Blanche 55E per person (5 courses)

I will let the pics do most of the talking

Ok have to start with the obligatory bubbly

Mullet sashimi style - fresh, green pepper sauce was refreshing, fish eggs tasted like preserved egg yolks (yum yum)
IMG_1683.jpg
White asparagus with parmesan ("egg white") and smoked egg yolk
IMG_1689.jpg
More mullet
IMG_1692.jpg
Pork with beets (beets were earthy and crunchy)
IMG_1696.jpg
Cheese course (v simple presentation, camembert and goat's cheese) was OK
IMG_1700.jpg
Strawberries with crunchy meringue, basil sauce

Disclaimer: due to the number of bubbly drinks, jet lag etc - the descriptions are definitely not accurate

Enjoyed ourselves here, a little out of the way but worth the trouble
Service was excellent, menu all in French but willing to explain items etc.

Re: Septime

Thanks KitKat! Septime food looks sensational. Did you need to book for lunch? Look froward to your further gastronomic experiences!

I booked online. I recommend booking as it seemed very busy... all seats taken, people waiting for lunch. A common problem once these places get into the San Pellegrino list

Chez L'Ami Jean

Dinner

Booked by calling

3 main options (3 course, 5 courses and carte blanche)
We went for the 5 course option 55 E

First course

IMG_1723.jpg
the lobster
IMG_1724.jpg
turbot

"young" goat
IMG_1731.jpg
rice pudding with salted caramel and pralines (3 yum yum score)

thanks to a friend who took a pic as mine had disappeared

Food and service was great.

Would I return? yes

Am beginning to like the non-chain establishments - the boss is in the kitchen and not travelling the world "consulting"

Au Passage

After getting out of the metro and walking towards where I thought the place was, was starting to get second thoughts due to the location... passed through narrow streets, doggie poo and urine smell on the road, tattoo parlour... BUT hey the food, service and wine was great..
I think this is a hidden gem.. but probably not for long. Apparently the chef is Australian, a coughulus Inc alumni but may be leaving soon.
Enjoyed ourselves so much that I only took one pic..
Great value. 40E per head inclusive of 3 nice bottles of wine between 3 couples
IMG_1781.jpg
ceviche, with a hint of chilli

Re: Au Passage

I have put Au Passage on the list for a lunch in November. Hope that is not too late. It's within walking distance of our apartment. A great pic again.

Jacques Genin

This place is famous for its fresh caramels. They are truly delicious and so are the pastries.
Quite easy to walk by without noticing this place. Worth a visit if you are in the Marais area.

Arola, W Paris

One night we were too tired to go out for dinner, so we had dinner in the hotel restaurant - Arola, a tapas style place
Started with two amuse-bouches
IMG_1746.JPGIMG_1747.jpg

A good start for a hotel restaurant

IMG_1752.jpg
White asparagus - interesting presentation, fresh and crunchy

IMG_1754.JPG
Octopus and chorizo - not bad but a little one dimensional - I suppose you are meant to share it anyway

IMG_1760.JPG
Beef - presentation was good but somehow the meat was not tasty (maybe have been spoilt the past few days)

All in not bad for a hotel restaurant

L'Arpege

My all time favourite restaurant in Paris - great food, fantastic service, mark up on bubbly not as bad as elsewhere. Pricey yes but worth it.

Some appetisers
