We are attempting a two-person 280K OW-CFR RTW trip in business class during SEP-NOV 2017 with the following itinerary: CBR-SYD-SCL-EZE stopover EZE-LHR stopover LHR-TXL stopover ATH-DOH-DEL stopover MMA-HKG stopover HKG-MEL-CBR. We have already been greatly helped by the AFF Award Fight Assist service but new questions have come up and we are seeking the wider communities support.
So far we have made three unsuccessful attempts to get J class seats (on 1/9, 3/9 and 5/9/2017) for the QF27 SYD-SCL flight. We have spoken to 131131 who agreed that it may be possible that no business class seats are released for that flight at all. We will still try to get those seats on LA800, which aren't released until 7/10, we believe.
In preparation for not getting those either, we have looked at alternative routing options, based on the assumption - confirmed by 131131 - that we have to do RTW to qualify for the 280K p/p fop cap. We found flights to LAX, for example, that are routed through HKG and wonder if they can be included in an East-bound RTW (HKG is to the West of Australia) - hence are asking this question: is a SYD-HKG-LAX routing considered an East-ward flight in this context?
And, is it really true that the 280K J-class OW Classic Reward Flight has to be RTW and can't be a loop (for example to Europe via South Africa, then from Europe back home via Asia)?
We would be grateful for any alternative solutions for achieving our main objectives for this trip, which are:
1) to be in London for two weeks in September 2017 and in Europe for the rest of September and most of October 2017, and
2) to be in India in November 2017.
