after much worrying about connecting flights- we arrived very early into Sydney in September, in lots of time to catch our 11am flight on American from Sydney to LAX - I had used my American miles (all of which I had purchased in one of their offers) to book two business seats and was quite excited to try their service. I really wanted to love this flight.

I have to say I wasn't terribly impressed with much of anything on this flight - the food was pretty ordinary (being nice here :-|) and actually neither of us could finish the steak we had ordered. The Ice cream sundae of which so many people mention, was rock hard and I didn't love!

The flat bed was ok, but for some reason, despite taking a temaze, neither of us slept much, and we arrived at our destination completely knackered - the first day in Los Angeles was spent trying to recover, so, not the best way to arrive. I really regret not taking the pajamas which were offered....- how silly am I!

Finally, the flights attendants- they were fairly friendly- nothing special and very different to our Qantas experience coming home, which was beyond fabulous.

I won't be rushing to try to book business flights on AA in the future but will use all my many AA miles to book other airlines.

Yes has been one of my favourite pastimes for ages - use AA miles on the likes of QF and CX.

Ouch! My flight in 3 weeks may not be as great as I hoped. Qantas scared me for life with how poorly I was treated, so AA would need to really be uncaring, rude & go out of their way to make sure I have a cough experience - to be worse than my last two flights with QF.
I hope to be reporting a smooth enjoyable experience to you all

The food isn't great but the hard product is way, way better than QF's MK II Skybed.
I had a great experience with AA transpacific and wouldn't hesitate to fly them again if the price was right.

AH yes, hard ice cream... Would that my home freezer was as cold.

The solution involves patience, unless the cabin is a lot colder than normal...

Happy wandering

Fred

PS The sundaes I've had have always been better than the little paper cups served on a number of other airlines. QF's mini-bar actually was one of the better (economy) options.
