So I'm looking at taking a trip SYD-RGN (and eventually back). No obvious availability in F, i.e. suites on A380 (not least because there is no F SIN to RGN) but even difficult finding J on the A380. So my question is, of the other craft flying the SYD-SIN route, which is the preferred option, 777-200, 777-300 and 777-300ER.

Definitely the 777-300ER; the others don't have a fully 180 flat bed in J. It's OK if you have a day flight up to SIN but try to avoid the overnights if you aren't on a 300ER.

Thanks, will keep trying to find the A380 option but think I could well end up on the 777-300ER!

Burmans SQ offer 2 types of J seats - the larger / wider Seats on 380 and 77W which are known as Diamond seats and the others which are the smaller narrower Weber seats commonly referred to as Regional 2-3-2 seating.

As noted earlier the Diamond seats are lay flat whereas the Weber seats are recliners. Personally I find it nigh on impossible to sleep on the Weber seats so avoid them on o/n flts like the plague.

BUT (Note: Not shouting here - rather emphasising a point)

For a daytime flt I sincerely think the Weber seats = to or > than Diamond seats - comfortable to sit in and plenty room / pockets to store your nick-nacks - seat layout just works well IMHO - hope that helps.

Echoing 777-300ER or 77W should be your next choice.
Are 777-300ER and 77W not 1 in the same?

burmans is SIN-RGN showing availability in J? I think SQ share that route with some Silk Air flts do they not?

If you will consider paying F rates for both sectors I can give you a contact in KF who might be able to shake a Suite loose for you or if not at least a J seat if you want to try?

I agree with what you've said - except one point, the weber seats are 2-2-2 layout not 2-3-2.

Basically the only flight not recommended is SQ 231 overnight from SIN to SYD on the weber seats.

Also depends on ability to connect or not - consider overnighting SIN - or if you have no luck out of SYD could also try getting on the midnight 77W out of MEL - and connect to the SQ morning RGN service, which will be much better than the MI services.

Yes sorry my bad - meant to type 2-2-2 but am not a good proof reader.

burmans I should have added KF call ctr may also be able to shake J seat on 380 from tree if you speak to right person.

Hi cruiser... Yes they are the same. :) depending on which airline they will use either one or the other.

Have missed the updates to this thread last few days somehow, yes definitely am considering F one way or both, preferably if I can get to try Suites but happy to try a mixture of product as long as I avoid the bad options! So a contact would be great if it improves my chances!

I would only pay for SQ Business on 77W or A380, if it's SQ A330 aircraft I would book on MH A330 aircraft and save the money.

Apart from the SQ "Leather" touch , there's not much difference in the comfort level
