I usually hire a car and travel to Surfers, when we have an overnight stay for OOL. Is there anything closer than Jupiter's, that offers one night stays, that's not a motel or pub?

Twin Towns have an outrigger thats popular, Coolangatta has plenty of options though.

The one bedroom apartments at Mantra Coolangatta Beach are a bit tired looking (though some have been renovated: it's pot luck however), but the best feature is the outlook over the beach. Have been at the Outrigger more recently, and the 1 bedroom apartments are a bit larger and more modern looking, though they are in the Harbour view tower, and if you are not a frequent traveler, you don't get a very high level. There are also a few options heading north toward Palm Beach.

I stayed right opposite last year: http://lacostamotel.com.au

I was only there maybe 7 hours - I was doing a return trip in J to meet that VA "we'll keep you Gold if you do one business trip" offer. Two for one of course ;)

It wasn't bad for about $95, but is a motel so may not meet your needs.

You might also try the sebel or Nirvana around at kirra? I've not stayed in either but have workmates that have lived in either and found them good!

La Costa was actually really nice (for a motel). New beds were comfortable, the rooms were freshly renovated and had new bathrooms, and everything was clean and tidy.

Regularly work out of the OOL airport.

The airport motel is fine if you get in late leave early and just want a bed as it is very close. Pretty basic though.

Normally I stay at The Calypso in town. It's right on the beach and what I consider to be excellent value and often they give me a room with a view of the ocean.

They have full cooking facilities and inly a ten minute walk from supermarkets in Tweed Heads. Also right on the restaurant strip if that is what you prefer.

Have also found the Mantra to be excellent

The outrigger is ok, but can be hit and miss with rooms and further form the beach but closer to the supermarket.

I drove up through Surfers once and honestly can not understand why anyone would go there unless they absolutly had too!

I've always stayed at the Mint Resort. Right on the beach, self contained.
