Hey Guys,

I am in the process of organising a one way business class ticket to Glasgow for the 26th December and was wondering on what people's thoughts on these options:

1. Malaysia Airline - PER - KL - LHR - GLA - Business - $4500
2. KLM - Per - KL - Amsterdam - GLA - Busniess - $4800
3. RBA - PER - BWN - LHR Business - $3160 then British Midland LHR - GLA Business $373

So clearly the best deal is RBA by $1000 or more. I am after comfort and leg room as I am 6'5", not fussed about the no alcohol provided on RBA. I do like the KLM flight that doesn't pass through London but don't think the extra $1300 is worth it.

Is there a big difference between the business class options from the above mentioned carriers? Would people choose one over the other considering the price difference?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

would probably be more concerned about connection times at the airports in the middle, particularly on rba

The RBA flight connection times are as follows:

PER - BWN depart 11:40AM arrive 4:00PM
BWN - LHR depart 8:15PM arrive 6:40AM
LHR - GLA depart 8:40AM or 10:00AM

So there seems to be some decent gaps, not sure if they are enough or not?

Malaysian is as follows:
PER - KL 5:30PM - 10:00PM
KL - LHR 11:55PM - 5:25AM
LHR - GLA 6:55AM

So there time between connections.

I'd go with the MH option as I reckon it's an excellent airline.

Don't get me started on KL...

The British Midland LHR-GLA seems expensive at $373? I thought 'business class' intra UK was simply an economy seat (and economy legroom) at the front of the aircraft (with the addition of ticket flexibility and lounge access)?

Cheers

If that is the case then I will go economy as I can get a BA ticket for $122 instead.

Definately don't pay the extra for J intra UK, not worth it, its usally just a blocked off middle seat, with no difference in legroom etc than Y

For my 2c, i'd go MH too.

Have a look at Emirates in J. The big advantage is that they have direct flights from Dubai to Glasgow, bypassing Heathrow entirely. I've done this route in the past and it is definitely less hassle

Definitely the one I would like to book but not at $7K+ though.

MH seems to be the best way to go at the moment. $4200 to LHR then jump on a cheap economy flight to GLA for around the $100 - $120 mark.

Over on airliners.net - in the trip reports forum is a rather good trip report on Royal Brunei. The poster was quite impressed. Food was excellent and lie flat seats.

Looks like a good deal for the saving of $1000 over MH.
