Hi all,

Flying to Beijing next week in Economy.

Went onto the QF web site check the onboard entertainment. On the web site, in the list of international destinations, PEK is not even listed (they've been flying there for two months now!)

Had "online chat" with a QF representative, who concluded "Thanks for waiting. I have exhausted all my resources. All we can see is if entertainment is offered on the flight, we are unable to see the movies available for your destination as it is not listed on the website however this flight has an entertainment as generally this is an international flight from Sydney To Beijing."

Any thoughts?

Michael

The SYD-PEK flights are operated by unrefurbished A330-200s with the older-style personal entertainment screens. So, you will have AVOD entertainment on the back of the seat in front, but the range is somewhat limited compared to what's offered on the refurbished A330s. The system also does not have a touch screen, so you have to control it using a remote control.

I took QF107 in Y on 17 March. Luckily enough we had an A330-300, which is unusual but does happen sometimes. The plane type in the booking did change a couple of weeks prior. Very light load (def less than 50% in Y) for what it's worth.

The entertainment selection was excellent, with a large catalogue and a big screen. I understanf it's a big step down on the A330-200s (VH-EBG and VH-EBL) unfortunately :-( . I was very impressed with the service of the staff which hopefully would be the same either way. Enjoy your trip!

Just select any other flight (hong kong, tokyo etc) and it will give you a rough idea of what's available.

Except that it won't... as per my post above, the entertainment on SYD-PEK flights is different to every other QF flight to Asia (except QF5/6 SYD-SIN).

The QF entertainment link only lists about 20 movies as it is, even for SYD-SIN. Unless they choose only old movies for that route?

I believe the overall range is more limited on the older entertainment system. Not sure about movies, but there are fewer TV shows, games etc.

It's still not bad - this was the norm around 5 years ago.
