Hi,
I'm hoping for help / advice from AFFers.
Wanted to buy NTL to KUL on EK but the only way seems to be NTL-xBNE-xSIN-KUL, which is really silly. There is a MEL-KUL daily flight at 0335H but it won't allow me to buy a NTL-MEL ticket. I suspect its because there are only JQ flights and no direct QF flights between NTL and MEL.
So, I thought, well ok, I'll just buy 2 tickets, a JQ and an EK and risk any flight delays / cancellation without the benefit of a single PNR. However, looking at prices for MEL-KUL on 2 April was $1000+. Strangely if I book SYD-xMEL-KUL which is QF code share from SYD to MEL then the same EK flight to KUL, the price is $735.
Can I book this SYD-xMEL-KUL price but buy my own JQ ticket NTL to MEL and check in directly to the KUL flight at MEL? Will I be allowed to check in or will they list me as not turning up because I did not check in at SYD? Alternatively, can I just check in online but board directly at MEL?
Thanks in advance for any info.
