I don't believe she is speaking any truth whatsoever.
Should stick to celebrity stories

Re: Army coup Turkey

Everybody has a right the right to say what they feel in a democracy it might be against the grain people might not agree but they have a right to speak the truth as they see it and not be pC about it, thats why I like Trump and Milo. They are not scared of speaking out. Sonia could have done a better job of it true, but look at the stabbing on the train in Germany. putting your head into the sand and pretending all is good like before WW2 the Majority good people were irrelevant!!
  • Four people injured in axe attack
  • Police shoot dead attacker
  • Attacker is 17-year-old Afghan refugee
  • Police operation underway in Wurzburg, southern German

Re: Army coup Turkey

Sonia was certainly wrong when she claimed that Japan is racially homogeneous.

Re: Army coup Turkey

I think Sonia Kruger's statement is pretty close to the 'shouting "fire" in a crowded theatre' standard where one has to weigh up one's right to free speech with the harm that could be done. She is clearly media-aware so has fewer excuses than members of general public

Blanket assumptions/decisions based on religion or race are not justifiable

And we have found India to be very racist. And classist :)o).

This thing with free speech. Seems so open to interpretation. With the Charlie Hebdo shootings, it was a result of that newspaper's satire of Islam. Of course the murders were atrocious but massive rallies resulted in order to protect Free Speech.

Sonia made remarks about Islam, her free speech, and she is attacked as racist by others and her free speech is seemingly denied.

How does this work?

Problem is you praised her for speaking the truth not for having an opinion. Her opinion is demonstrably wrong (i.e. not the truth) on a number of points. People who who stir up hatred and fear by saying things that are wrong actually make us less safe. This has got nothing to do with PC. You simply do not get people to "integrate" by alienating them.
As for the WW2 reference, it simply doesn't work. The majority before WW2 were the people vilifying people based on race and religion. They were the bad people. If the analogy is even going to be used, it doesn't favour Sonia.

Re: Army coup Turkey

does not matter free speech is free speech ....... what is wrong with saying the more muslims the more radical violence ? The harm is not shouting fire in a theatre that is on fire !!

I can see a closed threat coming........

Amen (or insert word of your choice) to that. The hatred being espoused by some on this thread while hiding behind weasel words is no less repugnant than the hatred behind cowardly acts of violence. And is likely to be a contributing factor.

You obviously have not seen Brigitte Gabriel gives FANTASTIC answer to Muslim woman claiming all Muslims are portrayed badly

Actually your comments are denying free speech now. Sonia is free to state her opinion. Just as I'm free to point out that she is wrong. That's called free speech and it is a two way street.

Japan has a number of races of people living there, from Koreans, chinese, to the native people from the north of Japan. NOT homogeneous. As for feeling safe, did Sonia forget the sarin gassing of the Tokyo subway system? That terrorism wasn't caused by a muslim immigrant.

People like Sonia et al are far too simplistic in their opinion, this is a complex problem that requires a nuanced response. Besides why in hell are we getting someone from Dancing with the stars to pretend they have the first clue about global terrorism and it's causes?

Mmmm - never said you cant have your opinion. Just seeing the complexities here.

In your opinion, which you are perfectly entitled to just as she is entitled to hers.

Not even suggesting who I agree/disagree with.

What is wrong - besides the lack of any evidence to support that opinion?
The theatre isn't on fire.

What is this "closed threat" that you see coming. Personally I have uttermost faith in the Australian security agencies to protect us from any threat.

You obviously have not seen Brigitte Gabriel gives FANTASTIC answer to Muslim woman claiming all Muslims are portrayed badly

Actually, I have seen that. Brigitte Gabriel is clearly clearly has extreme views. I found the answer to be more of the same fear and hatred that leads to problems. that's my opinion, hopefully you can respect it.

Re: Army coup Turkey

In your opinion.

Which bit?
I have outlined the points that Sonia is wrong about with facts. I didn't comment about her entire set of expressed views.
some bits might be opinion, based on history.
Happy to be given any example where hatred and fear against one group have made life safer. Happy to see any example where alienating people has lead to integration. I haven't checked the election records, but I'm pretty certain that the national socialists were elected by a majority of voters. I've pretty certain the holocaust happened, is that opinion to accept that without seeing it for myself?

Mmmm - never said you cant have your opinion. Just seeing the complexities here.

You did seem to express an opinion that anyone criticising Sonia is attacking her right to free speech.

And I didn't say whether I agreed with Sonia either - just trying to work through why it is ok for one group to use satire to attack a religion (Charlie) in the name of free speech yet it isn't ok for someone like Sonia to do the same.
