I have a ticked CX flight using Alaska Miles, so it has an Alaska ticket number.

I went into the booking via my MPC number and 'for security' it wanted my CX (only) ticket number to access contact, travel document etc details (although I could select seat).

I called asking for a way around this (horrible phone menu!) and they first suggested I go into MMB without going through MPC - but the problem remained.

After a bit of investigation, it turns out the problem was that (for some reason) the reservation had my Qantas FF number in it. When this was changed to my MPC number, all was revealed. :)

I don't know how or why my QFF number got into the booking, but a bit odd that this made a difference to my ability to see some details of the reservation, when it wasn't booked through CX at all! If I wasn't a member of MPC, I would have had to phone up anyway.

Edit: A bit stranger still in that the booking wasn't showing up under Qantas MMB.

it's better not to try to understand why CX do things the way they do as it usually involves a headache - they manage to make things convoluted in the IT space no matter what they do...

The easier way would be to

1/ Use checkmytrip.com (to view details)
2/ Finnair MMB to change details (normally works)
