Found this mentioned in a thread on Uber - http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ckup-parking-locations-78046.html#post1510618, but I hadn't taken note of that. I had a very ordinary experience picking up my parents from Sydney airport last night... Curbside pickup is no more, the old Virgin/Jetstar pickup is now called the premium pickup area ($4 for 15 minutes), the new free pickup area is miles away in the new carpark. It's a long walk but at least it'll allow Sydney airport to make a bit more money. Curbside pickup was one of the big advantages of flying Qantas, and I never saw it busy there, even when there were massive queues to get into the other pickup area.

Is this Uber only or includes everyone?

Very poor if includes everyone? Don't need a long walk with luggage and pram.

Yeh if this is true and for everyone its a terrible step. I recall when BNE Domestic tried to do this and after a few days and huge backlash reverted back.

From the Sydney Airport website:
Accessible (aka disabled) pick-up spaces are [still] available on the Arrivals level outside T2 and T3.
Otherwise, it's an '8 minute walk' to the 'express pickup zone'.
Why the changes? 'To ensure Sydney Airport meets customer preferences and continues to cater to all modes of transport, while offering passengers and other airport users greater choice, more space AND INCREASED CONVENIENCE' (!)

My head hurts. I usually text my driver (not Uber) that Im leaving the plane and by the time I walk out of the carousel 3 door at T3, hes pulling up at the curb.

Is this not allowed anymore?

Goodness! Have they lifted that from the QF/OneWorld explanation of cessation of through-checking of bags? :)

As long as you have an E-tag then you can use the priority pickup
Why e-tag? Is that how they are charging?

Dad has a disability sticker. I'll have to get out tonight with family and find out what's going on and then call him to pick us up. That's another inconvenience I don't need.

The airport corporation needs to remember that without passengers they don't function. Very disappointing.

But even priority pickup is a bit of a walk, and from Qantas' T3 it's not a very good path. If you're already walking you may as well go to the free pickup.

Depends. Limo drivers registered with Sydney airport can use curbside. See Dropping Off and Picking Up | Go To and From | Sydney Airport Otherwise you'll need to meet them at priority pickup (so they pay), but you could probably arrange to meet your driver at the general pickup. There is an accessible pickup area, but I'm having trouble finding who can use it... would a recent quadruple bypass qualify?

Thanks.

My husband reminds me that for our Christmas transfers, our driver price went up $8 and he did drop off/pick up at the curb.

Kerb side management policing old pickup area. Some people ignoring the new signs and still getting picked up here.

Accessible pickup is here and I asked if dad can pick us here and answer was yes.

Pick up at the drop off zone, it's way easier. Never been fined, just yelled at on the rare occasion, just make sure the pax is already waiting.

My mother picked me up a week ago and it scanned her e-tag

Do you know if anything (charges / activity) showed up on her tag account?

Yes this is for everyone.

Many people still picking up PAX there but the traffic 'police' are being very aggressive in stopping it. The only pick up allowed there now are vehicles with disabled permits and only two spaces allocated behind the 400 bus stop / Emu bus stop.

Sydney Airport just keeps getting better with more amazing customer service experiences. I really hope they also control the new second airport and transfer all the current enhancements to Badgery's Creek
