Hi everyone. I joined Velocity Frequent Flyer in March this year and have a few questions about earning points. Hoping someone can help me

My first trip to earn points was with Partner Hawaiian Airlines in April this year. I know this may sound a bit stupid, but here goes. After I got back from Hawaii I had to Fax my airline ticket to the velocity team to add update my account with points and status credits. With the partner airlines- Is this what you would have to do (Fax tickets to Velocity to add points and SC) everytime? I notice when you book the airfares, on each airlines website there is only an oppotunity to add the current frequent flyer details for the particular airline (IE Hawaiian Miles)

On 11th August this year I flew Premium Economy with Virgin to Los Angeles, and flew most of my domestic flights within the US with delta. With me being new to this, I havent yet sorted out claiming points with delta air for all my US internal flights. Is it too late to add onto my account (And does anyone know the time period allowed to claim points with partner airlines) and is the only way to do this is Fax my tickets off to the velocity team?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me

Okay I'll give it a go. In the future book through the VA website if you can, and put your velocity number in there.

As far as the flights in the past with Delta and Hawaiian - if you still have the DL or HA boarding passes or e-tickets you will have to retrospectivly claim points and/or status credits. You have done this by phoning them and then sending a fax before, which is fine, but in the Velocity web site there is a Claim Missing Points option with the following conditions below - note the 6 month sunset period for retrospective claims. Obviously you will need your original HA & DL booking ref numbers, name, flight number and dates. There is also an Online Comments&Feedback form with various pull down common requests that you can fill out on the Velocity web site, but there isn't any way to include attachments, so its of limited use.

Airline Partners

Claim missing Points online for eligible travel on Virgin Australia, Virgin Samoa, Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines.
To claim missing Points for travel on other Airline Partners, please call the
Membership Contact Centre.

  • Airline Partner claims must be requested within 6 months of travel provided you were a member at the time of travel
  • Members can submit a retrospective Points claim for travel completed up to 30 days prior to joining Velocity Frequent Flyer on Virgin Australia and our Airline Partners
  • Successful claims for Virgin Australia will be credited to your account within 7 days of submission. Successful Partner Airlines claims can take between 4 to 6 weeks to appear on your account
  • If your Velocity Frequent Flyer number was added to your booking, please allow 14 days after your flight for the Points to be added to your account. Please check your account after 14 days and if travel has not been credited, please submit your claim
  • Can't find your airline?

In short - keep all boarding passes or e-tickets on file until the points and status credits arrive in your Velocity account.

You can email in your retro claims to Velocity (speak to the call centre about this) and ones with VA can be made online. I think all claims have to be made within 6 months of travel.

I had the same problem last year with my DTW to LAX flight on Delta, before continuing to MEL on VA. I scanned and emailed the boarding pass and got the points and SCs with no problems though.

I need to go back to Detroit this year; I'll see if they get it right this time. I'm not too optimistic since you still cannot even book a ticket from Australia to Detroit on their website even though it's a main Delta hub. They really need to upgrade their international booking system. There's a Book Now option for Detroit on the international route map but clicking on it spits out an internal server error message.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
