Hi all,

This is my first thread.
I have booked a trip to Singapore next June. Economy there and Business home. I really want to know when the new schedule is coming out. I only want to fly on A380, so it very much looks like in will be flying SIA instead. Too bad for Qantas. Another FF Gold member moving to Virgin.

Welcome to AFF, with no A380 services to SIN your need to know the schedules is somewhat redundant I believe. QF are still working out a number of issues including what aircraft and classes will be available, I dont think we will see much for a little while yet in terms of further details.

I guess,
I read QF have confirmed they will not be using spare 744's to Singapore (Asia) at all. Hopefully they will be using the newer A333's with Skybeds. If they use their older metal, i would imagine many travellers in the know will bypass Qantas to Asia all together. Exept A380's to HK from SYD.

They wont have any spare 744s, one of the reasons FRA is gone.

Speaking of which, I believe the golf buggy is being retired.

Anyway, if you specifically want to fly on the A380, then going with SQ is the only option.

The 333's are some of the older 330's in the QF fleet. If they are flying a 330 internationally, 99.99999% of the time it will be a 330 with a skybed. Times that have seen subs were the RR issues with the 380 and the fleet grounding.

Hi all,

I have just been contacted by Qantas, regarding the schedule change for my MEL-SIN booking in JUne next year.

Depart MEL 1330 Arr SIN 1920 (QF35). Equip will be on 747-400 (refurb) by the look of it.
Depart SIN 2120 Arr MEL 0650 (QF356) Same plane.

The changes are only a couple of hours different, which doesnt make a whole lot of sense. I wouldnt have though getting into Singapore at 1920 will allow many chances for onward destinations. Oh well. Good to see 744's back into Melbourbe though.

Anyway, if you specifically want to fly on the A380, then going with SQ is the only option.

Shouldn't MAS be flying the A380 to/from Sydney and be a OneWorld member by then? KL is only a short flight (or, dare I say it, bus ride ) away from Singapore- I'll actually consider this option in the future if I have a trip to Singapore coming up.

Good point.

Only drama for me is that means, a flight to Syd from Mel and then a flight that still doesnt get me to my destination.
More points and SC's i guess.

DMac,

I would be expecting more changes if the EK deal is approved in March.
The current schedule IMHO is a temporary fix to get bookings roughly in the right direction until approval is given.

Check this out for getting screwed out of this EK tie-up/re-scheduling: booked for June on FASA on separate PNRs SYD-SIN then SIN-LHR and return the same, splitting PNRs in SIN due to availability of through ticket.

I then get an auto 'we've cancelled your flights' here's your new booking - they've put me on BA between SIN-LHR (obviously because QF will cease that sector) in BA F. But not only do I hate BA (and I am English, I might add!) because of their atrocious service, even in F, and usually old, tatty F product; failed AVOD 75%; failed laptop power 100%; not New F product on their higher yielding routes BUT ALSO they've changed the booking code to Z, which is a BA classic fare code so unlike my P class FASA earning SCs and points, I am now up for ZERO SCs and ZERO points. I am Platinum and booked First and this is the way they treat me. I've said just book me on your new service via DXB but NO, computer says no!

Even Executive CC are struggling to help me and seem relaxed about me losing earning rights and a s*it house BA product. I despair...

MH will NOT be flying A380 to and from Oz as they have been allocated to the London Route

You are entitled to be put on the new service, however I suspect its the stopover thats the issue, as they cannot take bookings for stopovers in Dubai at present, once they get approval you should have no issues.

Thanks, Markis. Why do you say I am entitled? Where have you read/heard that? Should elaborate: there is no real stopover in SIN; just the usual transfer but it is on a separate PNR...

Would be keen to see it to put my mind at rest and refer to it in the on-going saga. Cheers.

As per the commercial policy for the changes:

https://www.qantas.com.au/agents/dyn/qf/info/201210/1004

For Australia – London v.v. customers -
  • Re-route/Re-book travel between Australia and London via an Australian Gateway (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide) on:
    • Qantas marketed and operated flights to/from London; or
    • Qantas marketed flights operated by British Airways via Singapore/Bangkok; or
    • Qantas marketed and operated flights to/from Frankfurt connecting to Qantas marketed flights operated by British Airways between Frankfurt and London; or
    • Qantas marketed and operated flights to/from Frankfurt connecting to British Airways marketed and operated services between Frankfurt and London

While the separate PNR may cause an issue, its should be made clear that due to availability issues it was the only way you could book travel to LHR at the time.

As far as your tickets go, you are doing a stopover from a legal perspective. QF has no traffic rights in DXB currently hence why you can't be ticketed as if you were going all the way through. Perhaps if you persisted to have both tickets combined you may have some luck...

I'm in the same boat but surely as an any seat award you will earn sc and ff points? You can still book asa on the ba flights.
