New QF app

I hear the new QF app comes out in a couple of weeks. Given the existing web app is pretty good, I'd expect this to be a pretty powerful piece of software.

Does anyone know of what functionality they are going to add?

No idea on what features it will have but hopefully it will be like the BA or DL apps which look good.

It will feature an "enhance" button that halves your points balance and doubles the cost of redemptions, while changing the requal levels for QFF by doubling them. There will also be a double SC request button that can be used every two years. :mrgreen:

Actually a level of gamification could make traveling even more fun. Play the random 'upgrade' button on the day and provided you are at the airport xx minutes before scheduled departure you are in the draw. You get rankings for your own 'on-time' performance and staying within the luggage limits. As everything is now linked, the earlier you board the aircraft the better your rankings. You get rewarded for contributing to Qantas on-time performance. Completing the flight's customer service survey within a few minutes of arrival gives you some more rank. More than three beers at the QP lowers your ranking.

I heard an early rumour that they were including 'Snack Tray Ninja" but didn't make it to the final release.

As an infrequent QF travel I just hope it makes travel easier.

I would assume it'll have some sort of tie-in to Qantas Cash, possibly to help you manage and load your money.

The ability to search and book award flights from the app would be good. Don't like having to go to my desktop for that.

If it works any where near as good as the SPG app then I'm, otherwise pass

Which one are you referring to a "pretty good"?

The useless Frequent Flyer one that tells you the closest restaurant that might give you points?

Or the original QF app that was about as useful as a chocolate tea pot? The one that basically redirected to the website?

The original redirect to the website one is ok. Allows mobile check in and that gets BPs in passbook. It could allow seat selection plus heaps more, but I do use it most weeks.

It's not for download, but I still have it on my phone.

With the current QF iphone app, I can't check my status credits or recent account activity from the account. Nor can I see my existing bookings. I can't calculate sc/points to be gained or points required for a classic award from y to z for all destinations. I just hope the new app will have these functionalities.

I believe they may launch an android version too at the same Time. I don't know for sure, but they have been hinting about support for Android for a while.
