New 'mystery' points bonus offer

Dunno! However when I first joined mileage plus earlier this year I was getting pretty low bonus offers... like 30% and 40% when more established members were getting 80% already.

So maybe the 'mystery' element is dependent on length of membership?

Two of four accounts in the family got email for this offer but they are different in the detail (this is the mystery).

One was:

The other was:

I think the other two accounts in the family purchased the limit earlier in the year hence no offer.

Need to be in London late April for a cruise so found MEL-BKK-LHR in business with Thai (777 and then A380) for 85K pts. About AUD 2,400 after fees and our Govt. mandated shocking exchange rate.
Do you think this is good value ?

Can't find anything suitable on aadvantage at the moment.

It's ok value, but I'd be looking at the range of other airlines rather than TG. With a positioning flight to SYD you could try All Nippon - much better all round than TG.

By way of comparison - you can pick up Sri Lankan airlines business class BKK-LHR in late april, one way, for around AUD1350. You could combine that with a JQ Star Class fare MEL-BKK starting at as little as AUD679 (non-stop flight on 26 April). The connection requires either an overnight in BKK (own expense) or overnight in CMB (paid by the airline).

Alternatively you could buy enough UA miles to fly business class on TG red-eye just to BKK (30k miles) getting in at ~540am, then connect with the Sri Lankan flight in business class, leaving at 0910 from BKK (no overnight)

This is exactly what I got. I wonder how they targeted this (or if it's just random). I have never purchased miles with United.

Me too - no purchase, got the lower 'from 10,000 miles' bonus at 80%.

Now this morning another email headed "let's try that again"

I just tried it and it is working! The second email link works a lot quicker than the first.

Well they kind of did recently where they offered 50% discount on the cost of points purchase, that works out the same to the 100% bonus.
