Noticed some relatively new mousepads in the J lounge in Sydney today... wondering how often they'll need to be replaced? I was tempted for a moment...

I havent used a mouse pad since I started using an optical rather than ball mouse. People still keep buying them for me though...

I like to use a mouse pad even with optical. I once had a desk with a join line right about where the mouse naturally sat. That 3 mm deep join played hell with the optical performance at random times. solution mouse pad. Of course, I wouldn't souvenir the one in the OP.

Probably not before that mouse needs to be replaced because the scroll wheel has jammed up.

Worst Apple mouse ever.

I just read on the other thread that people take whatever isn't nailed down in the lounge... :)

Indeed they should have been supplied with a can of compressed air as standard.....just to blow the cough out to free the little ball.

Optical? Even that's old now - it's all about the dark field technology - works on any surface, no matter how rough, reflective or shiny! Even glass - and probably dirt, although I haven't tried that yet! :D
