I just flew BNE-ADL-BNE on Friday and Monday and notices that at both BNE and ADL, there are now two priority check in lines - one for J+Gold+Plat and another for Flexi+Silver.

It was actually quite annoying at BNE at midday Friday when I counted a dozen people in the gold line (with 3 check in desks open), and the silver line empty (one check in desk assigned). Someone walked into the silver line and was served while I was still waiting in the gold priority line. I really feel the breakdown should be J+Plat and the other line Flexi+Gold+Silver instead.

NB: does anyone else think it is ironic that the Lounge password this month is <redacted> on the month they make these changes to Flexi/Sliver

Oh well, so all that fanfare of no priority check-in for Silver for nothing.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Flexible economy tickets do not need priority check-in.

Are VA the only airline in the world that do this?

Well, BD did have Flexible Economy on short haul domestic. Maybe now that they are enveloped by BA, this isn't so any more.

I'm not sure about the other USA-based airlines, but if you buy an AA Y fare (i.e. Economy Flexible), you get Priority AAccess privileges, which includes priority check-in, security and boarding.

You are correct - this is the way it should be. In Japan and the USA, I found that QF service their premium queue completely before moving to the general queues. It works well and gives priority to those who deserve it.

They did this in MEL back in August....

I am going to assume the Flexi+Silver line will go shortly

I thought the same on Saturday, a slight chuckle was had...

Noticed the same very clearly at MEL and BNE over the weekend. I think it's a good solution and good compromise.

As for the Flexi = priority checkin, i actually think it's quite a clever idea when separated out in the way. A nice way of bumping up the yield on the tickets by offering something genuinely useful.

I've had a different experience with the BNE silver priority check-in. Flew Sunday afternoon, I was the only person waiting in the silver line with all priority check-in desks full, was called over to the general bag drop desks in front of about 20 people waiting in that que.

Guess it depends who's serving.

Am now Gold, so hopefully they just spread the priority check in over the 4 desks when silver is removed.

That's no surprise. Isn't everyone Platinum or at least Gold these days. ;)

There will be no priority check for Flexi under the changes. Priority check in was removed for both Flexi and Silver, with the same effective date.

This means that it is only Gold, Platinum and Business class for Priority Check in.

Norwegian comes to mind, though they are a LCC.

I like having a separate queue for Flexi, combined with seat selection it gives me a chance to buy some status when I have to fly Virgin.
