I'm sure that's correct, but again, at least in the past a few years ago, they were pretty specific with which QR flights/routes qualified (including when the layover was about the same as flights that did qualify) ; there was certainly one from OZ, connecting through DOH to Europe, where I was knocked back on, including after appeal. May be different now.

The only time I went to a hotel was 2018 flying Madrid-DOH-PER. As
I said in my previous post, about 9 hours layover. Not sure I would bother again because of the waiting time and travel time. Not after seeing the sleeping pods.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

I have a 20 hour layover in November (23:35-19:50). I'm eligible for a transit hotel arranged by QR and me paying USD$125 (due to my booking class), but the STPC/transit hotel scheme isn't available at the moment due to Covid protocols.

I can't book a hotel in the city because 99.9% of hotels are showing as booked out (even though I'm there 3 weeks before the World Cup starts) and the 0.1% that are available are $000's for one night.

Oryx Hotel at DOH is ridiculously expensive too but there is a short-stay/capsule type hotel airside too. Though that is around USD$150 for 8 hours. So it looks like I'll be catching some Z's in the Gold lounge before I go into Doha for a few hours during the day.
