Hello Friends,

I need your help with creative routing for "Classic flight rewards" ;)
I need to get from Melbourne to Tel-Aviv (Flying with my older kid) starting from Dec 23rd (can be a few days later) and leaving TLV around January 13th +/- a few days.

I have plenty of points but can't see any availability around those dates ;(

Do you have any creative suggestions for this route and dates?

Thank you ;)

QR to DOH then either QR or RJ to AMM and RJ to TLV.

Nothing on CX via HK?

Can't recall if you can book LY with QF points these days, but if you can then via BKK becomes an option too.

Your best bet might be just calling QF, letting them do the leg work and paying the phone fee though.

If in J forget it as no way...If Y then either get to Singapore,Bangkok, Tokyo or Hongkong then fly CX,Finnair,JAL or BA into europe and try and find a ticket on AB,IB,Finnair or BA to TLV

i've got a feeling that time of year is going to be problematic getting QF awards out of Australia, whatever city you try to travel via.

Are you looking for economy or business class?

I've been having more luck with CX with routings beyond HKG due to married segment availability. If you can get to one of the cities BA or Finnair flys from you've got a good chance of getting a leg to HEL or LHR. Most of he big Chinese cities now allow a 72 or 144 hr transit without visa and you can get a good hotel for cheap if you have to overnight.

Can't see you getting a QF anything at that time of year.

Thank you guys,

Tried via BKK, HKG, LHR and HEL - Nada on OneWorld via Qantas search.
Happy to call QF and pay for the booking but pretty sure they won't find any options çoz I can't see any either ;(

The Qantas online search is pretty limited in my experience.

Another option is RJ from BKK or HKG via AMM.

For your outbound trip from MEL to TLV, try calling Qantas to book these flights (you can't book MH online):

23/12 QF462 MEL 19:00 - SYD 20:25
23/12 MH140 SYD 22:15 - KUL 03:40+1
24/12 KA730 KUL 09:00 - HKG 12:55
24/12 LY76 HKG 16:15 - TLV 22:45

For the return trip I was able to find this online for 84,400 points + GBP194 each:

Wow, Thanks!
Awesome find.
4 flights in each direction....grrr
I don't mind RJ btw. Flew with them last year via Amman, pretty good service except for the coughpy security check experience in Amman.

Another option I think that was there on 24th, but had to piece together MEL-ADL-DXB-AMM-TLV. It's around the same 84,000 + $400 in taxes. You've got to ask though is it a worthwhile use of QF points, if you're spending 168,000 pts in economy + $700-800 in surcharges... you can get commercial fares for about $2.1K at the time, with less stops. But depends on how you value QF points.
