The gentleman and I are off to Africa in late July and plan on doing a tour of Namibia. We were originally thinking of doing a fly in and fly out safari but are now considering a self drive tour instead.

Has anyone been to Namibia? Any tips, recommendations or information that might be helpful?

Superb country if you like wide open places.
Etosha Park is great. Much better the national parks in South Africa.
Many years ago with friends did self drive trip in Namibia (in a beat up Landrover).
Etosha, the coast, deserts and the Fish River canyon are spectacular

Great, thanks! I'm looking forward to going to Etosha and the reason I want to go to Namibia is to go To Sossusvlei and the amazing sand dunes :)

We will be flying over the dunes at Sossusvlei in March and as you may have guessed there will be a TR.though we are cruising the West Coast of Africa and only 3 days for Nambibia.

I'll be waiting to read your TR with great interest then!

One day in Luderitz and 2 days at Walvis Bay.
Luderitz is different
Do remember spending an evening in some German bar when there.
