Hi. So I've just moved from Holland to South Florida. I'm Platinum with QF (LTG) and also with AF/KLM. My new job will see me flying a lot less, but probably enough to maintain decent status on one program.

There is so much info on US programs that I don't know where to start. If I do all of my flying on OW I will re-qualify for QF Platinum mid year, and I retain my Sky Team status until the end of 2013. But really can't work out where I should focus my efforts.... Should I:

  1. Try and maintain QF Platinum and probably drop the SKy Team alliance status in the process?
  2. Re-qualify QF Platinum one last time then let it drop back to Gold and try and maintain Sky Team?
  3. Let QF drop to Gold and join a US airline alliance? Any benefit in that? I know nothing about the programs over here.

Any thoughts from you FF Wizards on what to do?

Cheers!

Personally I would be prepared to let the Scary Team status slide and try for either of maintaining QF Plat, or if achievable AA ExP for the earn and burn rates.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Agreed! If AA ExP is possible, you'll certainly appreciated the burn rates! As many of noted before you should be able to show your QF Plat card at check-in and lounge entry, then switch the FF# to AA. Almost best of both worlds!
