Hi all. I am flying to OOL-SYD-HNL-SYD. The HNL segments are on Hawaiian but the first flight is on Virgin on the same ticket, ie through ticket.

Can I miss the first flight and just check in in Sydney direct on Hawaiian? To have the ticket changed will cost several hundred dollars apparently. Many thanks

Firstly welcome to AFF.

Secondly, if the whole trip is on one ticket then as soon as you miss a leg then the rest of the ticket is cancelled. So yes you do have to fly the legs as shown.

Also if you were looking to get points on the trip, missing any segment means loss of all points claim. I experienced this last year.

No, I believe the entire itinerary will be cancelled if you do a no-show in OOL.

Although - "your mileage may vary." I missed a segment on a trip last month and received all points and SCs, including the leg I no-showed on (which was the last leg of the itinerary).
