We are here for a few days prior to a cruise, our friends, QFF gold arrived safely last night at the hotel unfortunately Jude's bag is still in Brissy. After hours at the airport sorting out its non arrival if it's not delivered tonight is there a ground desk to contact? She tried email last night and received an auto response they would endeavor to get back to her about her problem in 15 days. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are there any details on the missing bag report - either a tracking service (enter on-line), or local contact number.

I have the report, it's a many times re-photocopied piece of paper with the flight details, a description of the bag and where we are staying with a file number 14348, they were on QF97

there is a Qantas mishandled baggage website, it asks for the reference number and surname.

Normally what happens is that the nag arrives on the next flight and will be delivered to the hotel.

With carries such as CX this can be a matter of just a few hours. Don't know about QF but I suspect this will be on their next service rather than another carrier. It usually takes at least three-four hours after the arrival of the incoming flight with the bags before they are delivered.

Plane has landed at 1730 so we shall wait patiently with fingers crossed

the tracking website may have confirmation that the bag was loaded on the flight.

hopefully the lost baggage delivery service will run through to late night... if not, it should be there in the morning.

Same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago on QF127 and I received the luggage the following night. I saw my bag being transported to the international terminal when I was in the transfer bus about 2.5 hrs before the flight, no idea where it went after that. There should be a local HK number you can call although it would've been better if they supply the international lost baggage code for tracking online. Pm me if you need any help but I hope you've already received your luggage.

I don't wish to be a downer, but the tracking website is useless. I once had cause to get Qantas to give me a detailed report on what happened to a bag of mine that was multiply delayed getting delivered to me after it missed my flight LAX-MEL. I sat down with a senior manager afterwards and he went through what actually happens with bags that miss their original flight.

Long story short, unless things have changed drastically, no-one really knows where an un-accompanied bag is until it came out of customs at its destination. In my case the bag was listed on the web site as being on a certain flight on consecutive days, and even landed in Australia, awaiting customs, but it wasn't. That's what was scheduled to happen, but for whatever reason it wasn't actually loaded and was sitting at LAX the whole time. It eventually got to me 3 days later.

You would think that couldn't happen for security reasons, but the actual manifest of what's loaded is not part of the baggage 'tracking' system.

I hope your bag is on the following flight, but don't e-mail CALL - an Australian number if necessary and write down all the details of what you were told, including names. It may not expedite the bag, but at least you may have some insight into the process.

I hope the bag has turned up. I've only had the problem with domestic flights and the bag has been put on the next flight and delivered either later that night or the next morning. I have a friend whose bag was put onto a different international flight (how? why? it's a mystery). It took QF around two weeks to find it. When they did, she told them just to send it to her home address as she was nearly ready to return from her overseas trip. She learn to travel light on that trip!

Well the Brissy flight landed at 1730 yesterday and at 2200 the local Qantas rep said bag should be delivered MAYBE 1200 or 1300 hopefully today, why should it take another night and half the day to get here. Really poor service here, at 1300 if it's not here we shall start ringing Australia as RooFlyer suggested.

I would save the hassle of calling Australia! There is really nothing they can do once it's in the hands of the courier who will be making the delivery. As long as it's there that's the main thing.

Calling Australia? I suspect all you will be able to get is a confirmation it is on its way (which you already have): they're not going to be able to expedite the delivery if the courier has a pre-planned route.

Poor service? I'd agree. But there are probably others waiting to have their bags delivered as well. Might as well let the courier complete their rounds.

You will be reimbursed for any immediate essentials you needed to purchase because of the delayed bag. An allowed limit for these expenses should have been outlined/provided at the time the missing bag form was completed.

Happen to me back in 2013 but with SQ from SYD - SIN - HK. Landed in HK SAT 10.45pm and finally got them MON 1:45am. It was found in SIN without any identifying tags .... name tags, bag tag, priority tag were all missing. Luckily had a photo of my bag on my phone which help them locate it. Had to provide the TSA number.

Well it finally arrived, it was on yesterday's flight from Brissy and took almost another 24 hrs to be delivered to the Hotel, just glad it got here before Monday when we depart on the cruise, not great customer service anywhere from Qantas once when contacted, basically couldn't care and it would get there when it could and bad luck if we had left already. We flew Cathay up but are flying Qantas back at end of trip, fingers crossed for us for the return flight. Thanks once again for your help.

A few years ago travelling CX to HKG & then LX to BHX via ZRH our bags didn't make the connection in HKG. We were staying overnight in Birmingham & then taking a trip on a narrowboat. The agent at BHX said that if our bags didn't make it in time to be delivered to the hotel, that they would have no problems with getting them to us on the boat as they were experienced with that, and they would call us as soon as they arrived. When they hadn't arrived by dinner time when we were miles down the canal & we hadn't had a call, I rang the agent who told us that they were at the airport, but that he didn't have a driver as it was after hours. When I arced up about the lack of service, he said he would get someone to deliver them & wanted to know where we were. I gave him the name of the hotel, & where we were on the canal, but he didn't know anything about that and insisted on us giving him a post code. Luckily, one of the blokes drinking outside knew it. A couple of hours later, the bags finally turned up with cheers from everyone in the pub.

That flight must be jinxed. Happened to us as well last November - BNE-SYD-HKG. 48 hours later it arrived, for a five might, multi-event long weekend :(
