Haven't seen this wine mentioned here but in my opinion absolutely one of the best value wines in OZ, if you want a quaffer that punches way above its weight this is it! And the specuial deal is here (I get nothing from ths but this wine is too good to hide from my members AFF'ers.

Mike Press Adelaide Hills Shiraz 2013 (Allow 7 days despatch)

A single vineyard in a high, cool location, will articulate the full swing of its seasons, and this is why Mike Press Shiraz oscillates from tightly-coiled, peppery elegance in vintages like 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, to voluptuous, full-bodied stature in 2008. And 2013 is definitively the latter. Ripe plum and blackberry fruits of supple succulence and intensity meet prominent, sweet American oak, in all of its roast nut and dark chocolate character. As always, it’s too young to show at its best on release, and will benefit from time to integrate, though it does not demand all the time of recent vintages. This is a rich and voluptuous Mike Press Shiraz, layered with juicy black fruits and liquorice, unashamedly the child of a more generous season, and ready to play much sooner than usual.
Tuck in. 92 points Tyson Tselzer

One of the quality/price champions of recent times. Grown on Adelaide Hills vines now in their 17th year.
American oak. It’s sweet with creamy vanillin oak but the fruit lying beneath is high in quality. Indeed the quality of the fruit (and tannin) here is as good as I’ve seen it in Mike Press Shiraz. Cherries, cranberries, plums and a healthy serve of integrated ground spice. Oak, for now, sits slightly separate, though time will help bind it all together. Sinewy tannin gives the wine a sense of strength.
This is an excellent release, and terrific value. I suspect it would have been better again had different oak choices been made; but then, the end price may have been different too. 93 points Campbell Mattinson Winefront.com.au
Good hue and depth; spicy/savoury nuances run through the black fruits of the bouquet, as befits the Adelaide Hills; the palate explores these themes in more detail (and depth), the tannins providing the framework for the examination.
In the end, you are left to wonder how the wine is the bargain it is. 94 points James Halliday Top 100 Wines

I haven't tried either the shiraz or the cabernet but they always seem to garner favourable reviews. Is there a similar deal on the cab? My cellar is little shiraz heavy at the moment!

I think the deal is only on the shiraz but the cab is only about $1 more! As you say this also gets great reviews. Mike Press is a winemaker with experience making medal winning wines that sell for 4-5 times more, he has all the pedigree needed.

Was interested until I saw the shipping cost, $40 to a regional city 400kms from Perth is a bit rich.
