Haven't seen it posted anywhere so thought I'd share this with everyone. Got an email from Midas where any vehicle service will earn you 6000 bonus points plus 3 points per $. Stack that with your credit card and it works out to be pretty decent. Not a targeted offer either.

T&C's:
Valid 14/03/17 - 21/04/17
Valid on any car, SUV, 4WD or commercial vehicles
Includes manufacturers handbook servicing and any additional recommended maintenance inc. brakes, cooling and transmissions flushes.
Excludes repairs, tyres, batteries and safety inspections.

Full details can be found here: Midas - Car Service | Brake Service | Auto Service | Exhaust | Suspension

Thanks liamsal. Not a bad deal if your car is in need of a service (from memory their standard service is around $179, so be sure to compare price and points value to wherever you usually go). Almost as good bonus offer as the 10k they offered 18 months or so ago - I took that offer and was a nice extra

$149 for their essential service.

Yep you're right $149 *

* dependant on car (cylinders, I think SUV or not, and we know there's a lot of SUVs going around) and oil chosen. But Dr Ralph is correct, you can spend as little as $149 and get the 6k points

Tempting, I have a 6-monthly service coming up. If they're an authorised provider then this would be worthwhile.

Or as that is basically just an oil change one could do it yourself and save about $120/30

Also one can change failed lights, wipers etc oneself for a fraction of the parts cost that any service company will charge. I guess it depends how mechanically adept you are.

Once I think most of us could be bothered but nowadays? It used to look so simple under the bonnet!!

Oil change, light and wiper replacements are all still dead simple. Oil change is a 5 minute task.

More major service items are not always possible today DIY with newer cars as you need the right computer to connect to your car to make checks and to make changes.

I currently have 3 cars. 2 are in warranty, but every second service is optional, and is basically just the oil change. With the third, a Honda, it is still computer controlled and so I just get a mechanic to look at it occasionally.

I do not drive anywhere as much as I used to (I no longer need to commute and most holidays are flying via FF points) and so the warranty services are time based rather than distance based.

An update on this promotion... I had 2 cars serviced and no points materialised so I have had to submit missing points claims from the Midas website. I'll update again in 30 days when they try shaft me some more.

Same with me - didn't receive base points or 6k bonus. Submitted mine a week ago so will advise when (if) I hear back

Unless you have access to a hoist it really isn't a 5 min job. By the time you go to the shop buy oil, filter, new sump plug washer get home jack the car up and secure it on stands, let it cool down then dump oil let it drain, replace the filter and then re-fill with oil it is going to be closer to an hours outlay in time.

Yes it is easy, but it is not a 5 min task. I assume the $149 doesn't include fluids, but it still isn't a bad deal for time poor people.

Well, I'll report back partway through an overseas trip, say around 23rd June.

Hoping you have good news a week earlier :)

All points landed in my account overnight. About 1.5 weeks since I submitted my claim.

And a lot of newer cars use cartridge type oil filters now, and some require specialised tools.
Also having to dispose of the old oil correctly.
Definatley not a 5 minute task.

A little birdie told me Midas is offering the 6000 Velocity points again from 1st April.

I had to chase up the last lot with Midas and they told me the store has to put in a special code when you check in your car. If they don't put in the code you will be submitting another claim

Just received a text from Midas confirming 6000 Velocity points bonus for April on a car service.

I am booked for Thursday
