Mrs D has just pulled an all-nighter in whY on MH 128 - went with GFs who are not in the AFF club, hence the right turn at the door.
Feedback was that the hard product was very comfortable (comfy seat and able to get legs under chair in front ) but the soft product left a lot to be desired - F&B was practically non-existent until breakfast and she swore there was no alcohol on-board?? It felt like an LCC in that respect.
Did she not push it enough for F&B or has she just been spoilt by J and F ???

At that time of day (overnight), in Y, I think you have to just ask for alcohol.

Did she?

I don't think it's automatically offered.

Agree with Austman. Also I find that non frequent flyers tend to have a memory of their best ever flight and compare all future flights to this memory.

The Drinks service would have alcohol on the cart. Why not ask for some?

That's what I told her - ask for it. But she swore there was none on the cart.
Anyway, they survived so no biggie

We certainly had alcohol overnight Syd-Kul in Y three month ago
Seat reasonably comfortable, food OK, IFE reasonable, but too cold

Same here. There was definitely alcohol available on the overnight SYD-KUL flight in Y I took 2 months ago.

As for the meal service on the overnighters, it doesn't surprise me that the main meal service on that MEL-KUL flight is breakfast, as it departs in the middle of the night I believe. I actually get annoyed about having a meal service at such a ridiculous time. On the overnight SYD-KUL flight, the main meal service is supper, since it leaves at 10pm, and it's a light snack offered before arrival at 4am into KUL.

Traveled on MH just the past weekend and I must agree that the soft product did leave a lot to be desired. There seemed to be a bit of disharmony among the cabin crew as was the case on MH128. Don't remember Malaysian hospitality to be this cold and unfriendly :( I can also confirm that alcoholic beverages were not displayed on cart as I had to ask for beer. Even so, it wasn't promptly delivered as I had to wait for a good 10 minutes. Also worth noting that this was way after supper service so it definitely wasn't a busy period.

Return trip MH149 was slightly better but one of the lavatories was out of order. Food was good but that's pretty much about it.
