Melbourne-Amsterdam, Paris-Melbourne, with a catch

Hi people

Wonder if anyone can assist with flights for two people to Europe this winter. Dates are very flexible but would be something like 14 July Melbourne-(stopover)-Amsterdam, and back around 4 October from Paris CDG-(stopover)- Melbourne. The tricky bit is that we hate overnight flights and early morning departures and arrivals. Can someone suggest a routing that would enable us to be boarding at a reasonable hour (no earlier than 9am) and arriving at both Amsterdam and the two stopover destinations (which we are pretty flexible about) in the afternoon/evening?

We're got a few FF memberships but this would all be done with $. All flights would be in economy.

Many thanks

KLM has a day flight from KUL or HK to AMS, and you should be able to easily get to Asia on day flights

I can't figure out how to get you back to Australia on day flights because you'd essentially be travelling towards night (not a scientific explanation, but it makes sense in my head). Etihad can get you from CDG to AUH on a day flight, but to Australia will be overnight

A Turkish airlines flight CDG-IST-NYC is during the day, but again, east/west-coast USA to Australia will be overnight - maybe check if you can get to Hawaii then to Australia on day flights? (all moot points if price is an issue)

Maybe someone else has some ideas, or you can accept an overnight on one of your legs?

Sorry, should have said that we are fine with a departure from the second stopover point that leaves in our preferred time zone (9am-2pm) and gets to Oz in early morning. We appreciate that it would be possible to buy 4 one-way tickets but were hopeful of something which is a bit easier on the wallet.

On way home there is a CX flight HKG/BNE in arvo arrives about 11.30pm.

Hmm, it's a hard one. The best I've come up with so far is an itinerary that goes Melb-Syd-Dubai (Syd-Dubai is 15.50/00.25), stopover, then Dubai - Amsterdam (14.55/20.00). Coming back it would be Paris - Dubai (15.35-00.20), stopover, then Dubai-Melb (10.15-06.45). I'd rather go via Asia but it looks like it isn't possible without a couple of expensive one way fares.

Do you have a budget? What is your flight expenditure limit? Taking your restrictions into consideration, you will almost certainly have to buy 4 one-ways, or 1 return and an open jaw. Are you also willing to buy miles for redemption if it is cheaper option?

Re: Melbourne-Amsterdam, Paris-Melbourne, with a catch

I think I might have cracked it. MEL-BKK return with Thai (both day flights). BKK-AMS on KLM, and CDG-BKK on Air France. Also both day flights, but just need to see if those last two flights are treated as open jaw return.

Re: Melbourne-Amsterdam, Paris-Melbourne, with a catch

The two open jaw flights can be priced as per a return fare, so I'm sorted. Can one of the mods note this thread can be closed?
