Hello, hoping for some input on the following as I plan out a Status Run:

I will have 3 seperate bookings all on QF. SYD-CBR (Y), CBR-SYD-HBA (J), HBA-MEL-SYD (Y)

-Connecting at CBR in 40mins
-Connecting at HBA in 45mins

Also if itineraries are seperate is it worth trying to link them or having notes added with the incoming flight details? Trying to work out what might happen worst case scenario if I did miss a connection.

Thanks!

The MCT at CBR is 40 mins, so you are right on the threshold.

If travelling with hand luggage only, I would be comfortable with 40 mins as long as your inbound flight is landing after 10am (earlier than that and there's a chance of being delayed by fog). There's only 4 gates in CBR (3 aerobridge) so you won't have far to go - your next flight could even be operated by the same equipment :)

As for handling of missed connections - that'll depend on your booking class and won't be automatic as they're not on one PNR. I have only ever missed connections when they've been on the one PNR or have been a fully flexible fare (Y/D/J) so my experience is limited.

The QF SYD-HBA operates the HBA-MEL leg, you wont have an issue, if you are running late so is your next flight. With the limited QF flights there is usually only one Aircraft anywhere near QF with a red tail so they cannot easily swap.

As for Canberra, my concern would be Fog. MCTs are irrelevant if you are on separate tickets.

Sounds good, the HBA flights were my main concern which is allayed if the same aircraft is operating both sectors.
CBR-SYD has several hours to the connecting SYD-HBA flight so it's pretty safe.

BTW thanks markis10, for the excellant JASA find: CBR-SYD-HBA :p

It was not my find I am afraid, I am just a selfless promoter!
