Did anyone else notice that there was an abundance of CX Award Availability earlier today? I managed to make one F booking home from Europe during northern summer using QFF, and was going to make another (hopefully) with AA Miles on my way home for SE Asia - but it seems its completely dried up as of about 20minutes ago when I was trying to get all the details together.

Eg. I found there was 7 J seats SYD-HKG during November (used ba.com), HUGE availability during July 2017 returning from HKG-MEL, and a date in April I'd originally hoped to get MEL-HKG-NRT/HND had some availability that had never opened up previously - I tend to check everyday to see if things have opened up.

Was this a glitch? Someone maybe loaded the wrong award availability?

I saw that this morning too and they were loaded before 10:00 AEST but they weren't available yesterday. I booked J to LHR in May 2018. Checking on BA some flights had 6 J seats available. Then suddenly they were all gone late this arvo.
I kept thinking they must be "ghost" seats and the booking wouldn't go through but my ticket has already arrived. I'm still half expecting an email saying sorry but your booking is not valid.

The booking I made was also ticketed straight away (can confirm and manage it online at CX website - selected seats and all) - surely once its ticketed by the operating airline (Cathay), you'd be reasonably safe that they arent going to pull the rug out from under you? Ultimately, availability is a constantly moving beast... just moved quickly this time.

Different experience for me. Was looking to book HKG-BNE/MEL for some dates in April and found zero availability in J. Usually it's not that bad so far ahead, even QF with less flights has some availability.

I still feel all those seats that opened up was some kind of error because there was so much availability and they suddenly disappeared.
Just lucky we were looking at the right time I guess.

I was on the phone with a QF agent and had MEL>HKG>DXB on hold for next week. When she went to process the tickets the MEL>HKG flight had disappeared and she was unable to get it back.

Initial hold was at 9am on Monday and at 9.40 she couldn't get the flights back.

Multiple award seats may not have been an error. Note all airlines are as tight as Qantas with their award seats. For example, I've seen all all eight F seats on Qatar's A380 available at the one time before. Qatar in general often has multiple seats available and I think the same can be said for Cathay.

In fact sometimes I can see availability through QF.com that I can't via Asiamiles.com.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
