Anyone stayed at the Mark Hopkins, as I need a night there early June. Central?

Any super PC offers at the present? My last stay in Boston got me 20000 points which was a big kick to the points balance and I retained Plats.

I have stayed there but not for many years. (Way before I had any understanding of FF and hotel loyalty programs)

At the time it was very good, as I would expect from an IC, and it is in a great location.

I stayed there in 2009 for 2 nights. It's up on Nob Hill which is a pretty easy walk down to the water but a super climb on the way back up! Easy enough to get the tram up though after a days shopping/exploring/eating/etc.

Nice bar upon the top floor with awesome views!

Stayed there for three nights two weeks ago. Lovely hotel in a great position - easy walking distance to all the main sights. Service was exceptional and as mentioned, a nice place for a coughtail at the 'Top of the Mark' on the top floor of the hotel - although does get busy so would recommend making a reservation for a table.

Received an Ambassador upgrade and nothing was too much trouble throughout our stay.

Enjoy!

It's certainly a very decent hotel. I was last there in February and was well looked after. If your description is correct and you are an IHG platinum, I would not expect much of an upgrade if any. An Ambassador and particularly a Royal Ambassador will be much better treated. On that basis I would also look at the IC on Howard Street. As a platinum you are more likely to end up with a better room there simply because the rooms are better.

Be aware too that there is a lot of work taking place on the cable car system and indeed all line will be shut down in the first days of June. Cable Car outage June 1 to 5, 2011 While there will be buses operating it isn't quite the same.

My experience was 30 years ago.Still the meal we had at the Top Of the Mark was one of our best ever for food and service. So much so that on my first US trip I tipped 25%.
Though of course we were getting $1.30 for our dollar at the time.

I was there for 2 nights about 6 weeks ago. Had about a half-dozen stays there.
It is an older art deco style hotel so expect the slow elevators and cramped bathrooms, etc. for the older hotels. All fittings are new refurbished though. Read this as antique not non-maintained.
But great service, concierge is on the money with some great resturants and bars and I ended up talking rugby with one of the bell hops once.
Everything you need an easy walk downhill (try Chinatown and Belden place for eats) and easy cab back!

cheers.
