Hi guys,

Just a question currently looking at flight MH9721 HK-KUL operated by Cathay Pacific, as a Marco Polo Club Diamond do I get additional baggage/lounge access/priority check in etc? or only for CX flights

also if not I have the DJ plat, does this carry any weight?

I cant remember also I read somewhere here that MAS has joined OW or has it not been effected as of yet.

appreciate the time for the input :D

MAS is in the process of joining OW but they’re currently not a part of it.

You pose an interesting question and I guess it would hinge on which check-in counters you use in HKG, but one would surely give you the extras you want.

I think as a MPC Diamond you get anytime access to the CX lounges too, not sure…

You have no lounge access but can earn points with DJ, that's about it!

The Cathay website has a summary of the benefits available for MPC Diamond. Cathay Pacific - Frequent Flyers : The Marco Polo Club > Club Benefits

The key thing is that you will be travelling on a Cathay operated flight, but not a Cathay marketed flight.

You only get extra luggage allowance on the Cathay operated and marketed flight. So you won't get it.

As a MPC Diamond you can access Cathay Pacific operated business lounges no matter which airline you are travelling on. You should only get access to first class lounges if travelling on Cathay operated and marketed flight, although it might be worth asking just in case.

MAS is in the process of joining Oneworld. But that is likely to happen in the second half of the year.

At least there is access to the J lounge which is cool, something other airlines could learn from.

Then again it’s slightly easier when you’re the big cheese and you only have one base airport with several lounges in it :p

Did think there was access though :)

ahh thanks guys for that, so access to the wing is a no-no seems like seeing its not a cathay marketed flight eh, any ideas where the lounges are located? will be the first time in HKIA and first time trying to reap any benefit from the centurion given mpc status

on a seperate note I did however pop in to the DJ lounge in sydney but my ticket was qantas, just to check it out when the matches came out they let me through on 3 occasions heh i was always unde the impression it was a non issue

The best lounge is the one closest to your gate, be it The Wing, The Pier, or perhaps even a MAS lounge with DJ Platinum if it’s allowed, I’m not sure. The Wing and Pier have J and F sections, so per your MPC Diamond you could use the J sections.

The best lounge is the one thats closest and open:

The Level 7 (balcony level) Wing Business Class lounge is currently closed over the phase II of the renovations – since May 2011 to end Jan 2012.

I didn’t see an intended date of travel, it could be open by then?
