Has anyone of our Members been to Carmel, ie Carmel-by-the Sea? I would like to know when to go there, where to stay there, and for how long? I am 65, so I should blend in with fellow travelers. Not into the Golf Scene, but the Wine scene seems appealing. Perhaps a short stay there, then venture to say, further afield, within California? Two weeks away I am looking at, and any suggestions from past travelers would be appreciated. Naturally, I would like to meet up with my idol Clint, whilst I'm there! Ty in advance.

I have visited Carmel, though some time ago.. As I recall was/is a wonderful town & area, filled with delightful cafes & scenery. Sure you will also find the californian wines appealing as well. Certainly one of the more desirable areas of the diverse state.

The last time I visited Carmel he was the mayor!
However he now owns the Mission Ranch hotel and restaurant there so a good place to start.

By all means go, it's a beautiful place but I don't know that I would make it my one stop destination in CA.. Have you done the Pacific Coast Highway drive? There are a bunch of great places to see. I would recommend taking some time if you have it.

Ty, sounds good. I have seen pictures of the Mission Ranch hotel, with the barbecues out the back. Looks appealing.

Now that is a great way to compliment my short stay. I will take your advices. Ty.
