Hi
You may or may not, be aware of some MAJOR changes taking place at BNE as of this Thursday (3/12/09)

See this link for more info Brisbane Airport - Major road and car park changes

I fly back to BNE of Friday, i hope it does not cause to much confusion for drivers, or it could take me HOURS to get home,

I think in the long term it will be much better for getting to and from the airport,

Down side , looks like my "special" parking spot in the Dom Longterm parking area will be now be at the entrance to the car park.

This is twice now BNE airport have done this to me, I used to use the "quick park" area, and that was GREAT , but sadly now gone :(

I like the train, but it's so expensive, and not often enough ....
I suppose to be fair I was comparing it to Sydney, but still ....

Last time I drove to the airport a few weeks ago, OMG it took like an hour from Mt Gravatt... chaos everywhere from that giant roundabout. So I guess more delays with this parking change!

Good to know, I was hoping they’d do this eventually. So next time I go to the airport I stick to the right, not the left, and take the new road. Seems fairly easy.

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere on AFF but QF have introduced a shuttle bus for domestic to international transfer.

Effective from 01 December 2009, a new inter-terminal transfer system for Brisbane Airport will be launched - TBus

Customers travelling Qantas with connecting services between Brisbane Domestic Terminal and Brisbane International Terminal and visa versa can use the TBus transfer service free of charge when presenting a connecting Qantas boarding pass.

The new offering replaces the existing AirTrain arrangement from 01 December 2009. The same AirTrain customer offering will continue to apply however customers can now transfer free on TBus with a Qantas boarding pass, rather than the AirTrain.

Benefits

The new product will provide a more seamless transfer option for Qantas connecting passengers with increased frequency and timetable options. It includes a dedicated drop off and collection point for both terminals which are conveniently located near the check-in area.

Thank you Sam.:) I am suitably chastened for not searching first.

If heading to the airport in morning peak hour I prefer the train.

I don't recommend the train for people with luggage though. QR simply is not set up for passengers with baggage.

Hopefully these road improvements will help everyone.

I don't ever see any work happening on the rumoured Airtrain stop at the DFO area.

Given all the roadworks and traffic flow changes on Airport Drive for the last 6 months (and the rest ) I would not be expecting too much additional delays in the coming weeks.

The major change for me will be remembering to stay on the new Gateway section and not the old road to the old Airport Drive roundabout. Until the new Moreton Drive is open, staying on the new section of the Gateway meant going over the bridge. I am sure they collected lots of extra tolls from people not following the airport signs and finding themselves stuck on the Gateway and heading for the bridge with no way off.

On a related topic as the Clem7 tunnel will figure into our airport travel plans next year I received shareholder communication which listed another tolling brand will be doing the tolling in the tunnel.

That is going to be unfortunate as just about everyone has an existing etoll transponder. Hopefully they will sort that out before opening.

I really do hope that our many friends from Mumbai who drive the yellow, black and white cars spend their waiting time studying the new access/egress routes.

Watch the Curious Mail with interest for the "rage" stories:evil:

On no. Surely they could not consider a different toll transponder .

In Melbourne the City link and East Link are different but you can use either companies transponders on either road way.
