I made SG in October. Since making SG I've pooled to my partner so he can make SG. Once he does, we'll pool back to me to try and requalify me.

Since pooling to my partner, my balance has dipped well below 500. I know I need to earn an additional 400 by October 2013 to requalify, but if, in say March my balance gets back above the 500 SCs mark, does my SG year reset, or is my balance irrelevant (unless it hits 1000 for WP) and the only thing that now matters is whether by Oct 13 i've earnt 400 to requalify?

I highly doubt I'll earn 400 SCs by October but my balance will go back up to over 500 before then.

Your status credit balance is only relevant for gaining status, not maintaining it. Look for this box in your Velocity account to see how many SC's you need to maintain your status.

Your status year has reset and now has an October 2013 review date. All points earned now could go toward your next requal except you have family pooled to your partner. Is there a reason for your partner to have gold? If you both usually fly together, he could make do with red and gain lounge access and priority everything off your account. Family pool his back to you and you'll requal for Oct 2014 rather than both of you having gold up until Oct 2013 when you'll fall back to silver.

Hey all

My gold review date is 16 Feb. Unfort due to a stupid mistake by the people at amex, I will only have 385 SC's on 16 Feb, but will be getting another 20 on 17 Feb.

I've tried calling and emailing Virgin to find it if they have a grace period for my membership where the give me a little extra time to get the required SC's or if they could move my review date by 1 day. Got a flat no to both, although it took three people and 20 minutes on the phone for someone to understand what I was asking.

I've read on here that there is a month's grace period after your review date, but not sure if this will mean that by getting the 400 sc's on 17 Feb that I will requalifiy for gold.

I am flying on 15 Feb and could change these flights to flexi, but don't want to incurr extra costs if I don't need to.

Can someone help?

I also have a question about Gold review.

If I need to earn 400 SCs to maintain gold by my review date, and I earn 550 SCs by that date, will I then have to earn another 400, or only 250 during the following year to maintain SG for a further year?

The month grace period is to allow for delivery of your replacement card -- it doesn't give you extra time to maintain your existing status level. Would definitely recommend changing your existing flights to Flexi if that will give you the additional Status Credits that you need.

Alternatively, if you have enough flights booked to reach 500 again within the 1 month grace period, you effectively don't lose it either (even though you officially lose SG then requalify again). That will depend upon how many flights you have booked and how many SCs roll off their 1 year use by date.
