DD (18) is doing a gap year. She has saved $4K and decided to go and revisit our French exchange student in July. It needs to be July as her friend is at uni and so the visit needs to be in the uni holidays. DD won't mind doing an internal European flight.

Any suggestions as to cheapest destination so she can do the research to see whether cheaper to fly straight to CDG or through an alternative airport.

Putting my mind back into broke student mode, would she be happy with a LCC? AirAsia flies to Paris-Orly. This would require a stop in KUL and retrieving luggage and rechecking through, but its showing as approx 1100 AUD KUL-ORY in the middle of July. You don't mention where she would be departing from so I can't get an idea of overall cost.

And if she wanted to go posh, the Premium economy with lieflat bed is about 2400AUD return KUL-ORY

As a student I would have gone in the cargo hold if it meant saving a few bucks :D

Thanks for the suggestion - she will be departing Melbourne. I will have a look at AirAsia.
