Travelling BNE-NRT via SIN in June return in J on SQ metal with no SQ status

Which lounges will I have access to in:

•BNE (around midday on a Saturday)
•SIN terminal 3 (one visit at 9pm on a Saturday the other at 3am on a Saturday if that makes any difference)
•NRT terminal 1 (around 5pm on a Friday)

If there is more than one lounge option let me know which one you think is better.

Cheers

Different question same theme

I'm travelling SIN (T2) - FRA on Lufthansa Business (have *A Gold) and have been looking up lounges available, especially SIA, but have been getting contradictory results. Hoping someone can clarify from experience.

Basic question is: which is best *A Gold / Flying J lounge to access in T2? From TomVexille's answer below, I'm guessing Silverkris. but check out the contradictions below.

Background:

Star Alliance Lounge Finder bizarrely directs me to the Thai lounge in T1 (are they trying to tell me something :( )
SIn Lounges.JPG

Changi Airport site tells me there is both a Krisflyer Gold and a SilverKris lounge in T2

Sin Lounge 2.JPG

While SIA site tells me KrisFlyer Gold lounge is T3 only and SilverKris is T2 and T3.

Well I'm sitting here in T3 lounge and thought I'd go and clear this up with the lounge staff.

For Lufthansa J and F class they use the SQ lounges. J will use the Silverkris in either T2 or T3. F would use the SQ First Class lounges.

So, head to the T2 Silverkris lounge and enjoy.

Bonzer, thanks. AFF at its dynamic best. :)

I thought I'd hijack this thread rather than start a new one, as my question is also on the same theme. I've just hit Gold with KrisFlyer, in the middle if a RTW trip (flying J).

So far my new status has got me access to the United and Lufthansa First lounges. I'm flying home with LH to SIN, and then SQ from SIN-MEL. Am I correct that my Gold status doesn't change anything about what lounge I get into in SIN - ie I'll still "only" get into the SilverKris Business lounge? That's the impression I get from the SQ website. If so, isn't it odd that SQ Gold seems to get me more benefits with *A partners than with SQ itself?

I think that in Singapore you get access to KrisFlyerGold Lounges at Singapore according to the Lounge Benefits on this page.

But isn't the KrisFlyerGold lounge of a lower standard than the SilverKris Business lounge? I know that sounds contradictory, but I think that's the case. People with *A Gold get into the KrisFlyerGold lounge when flying Y, whereas you have to be flying in J to get into the SilverKris Business lounge. I suspect you also have to be flying in F to get access to the First lounge (unfortunately), but as I said that means KF Gold status gets you less when flying with SQ than with their partners, which is a bit strange.

You mentioned you were flying in J, in which case, you will have access to the SilverKris J lounge. How it works with SQ is:

KF EG/*A Gold and flying Y = KF Gold Lounge
SQ PPS or flying J = SilverKris J Lounge
SQ PPS Solitaire or flying *A F = SilverKris F Lounge
Flying SQ F = The Private Room

The above is only in SIN ofcourse. Elsewhere, you will get access to the J section of SilverKris lounges as KF EG/*A Gold.

As for whether SQ treats KF EGs 'less than its partners' that is not the case at all. Anyone with *A will still be directed to the KF Gold Lounge unless they are flying on J/F. There's no exception to this, even if you are super high tier like UA GS or LH HON. The 'discrimination' universally applies to all passengers flying in Y.

I guess it sucks to an extent as this is probably not in the spirit of how an alliance should function, but I completely understand their point and appreciate SQ for making this gesture for their premium passengers. Although the SilverKris lounges can themselves definitely get busy at times, it is nothing like the Wing F in HKG that allows all OWEs free access and feels like a marketplace during rush hours.

I didn't mean that SQ give more privileges to people with UA or LH status - I know they don't. I meant that as KF Gold, I get more benefits from LH and UA than I do from SQ (at least when it comes to lounge access).

When flying J with LH or UA, my Gold status gets me into their First lounges, whereas non Gold status pax flying in J with those airlines only get into the J lounge. In other words, Gold status gets me something extra with those airlines, even when flying J. However, when flying J with SQ, it doesn't matter what my status is, I get into the same J lounge regardless. So as I said, SQ Gold seems to count for more when flying with UA or LH than it does when flying with SQ, and that's strange in my book.

Anyway, don't get me wrong, I love the SilverKris J lounge in SIN - it's one of my favourite lounges - in fact it's better than the UA intl First lounges I've been in!

Completely valid point, never thought of it that way. Oh the irony lol.

I think the reason partly is because SQ runs 2 FF programs. PPS club members do get treated differently for sure and they launched a pretty new PPS exclusives website recently, although I wish they fixed their own website first.

Just remember that as a SQ Gold you get more from LH and UA then their own members do. It goes both ways.

On my upcoming trip (post 1, no status travelling in J) will I be able to access the Krisflyer Gold lounge in SIN as well? I understand from people’s comments that the Silverkris lounge is better but wouldn’t mind checking them both out anyway if I am able to.

Don't. lol

If you want a 'walk-about' though, I'm sure they'll let you in.

That bad? :D

I'm exaggerating here but there's a scene a remember in the James Bond movie quantum of solace.

He goes to Bolivia and his contact there books him into a shoddy hotel. He takes maybe 2-3 steps into the lobby, looks around, does a 180 and walls back out without saying a word.

:D
