I am about to fly MEL - LHR on business. I work for a Not For Profit so we are always on the cheapest fare. I have purchased QC and are entitled to lounge access in LHR on my return to MEL. The flight home is on a Sat and checkout from the hotel is at 10am but my flight is not until late in the evening. Can anyone tell me what time I can check in, i will only have carry on but would prefer to rest in the lounge after doing some sight seeing given I have no were to be prior to my flight.

If travelling HLO and can check-in online and print BP then you should be able to head to LHR whenever you want that day. You will have access to the AA Admirals club at T3. I haven't been there myself but based on what I know I don't think it's a huge benefit over spending sometime in central London and heading out to LHR closer to departure.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You could 'check in' at the British Museum at 10:30am.

That would take care of you until the tube trip @ 5pm to Heathrow.

Your eyeballs would be in overdrive for hours in there.

Ps: sorry I overlooked the part you want to rest in lounge.
