The info about access to lounges has had a fairly significant update.
Looks like I can access the SYD T3 business lounge as a QF gold according to this link. Its not the case but as usual this massive company has conflicting information on it's web page.

There is a seperate page for partner lounges that refers to LHR T3 specificallly as well.

Lounge Locations | Australia | Sydney Domestic | Domestic Business

Well picked up. I concur. According to that page, QF Golds and oneworld Sapphires can access the domestic Business lounges. If I'd seen this two hours ago I would have flashed my AA Platinum (Sapphire) card at the SYD T3 J lounge.

Your post made me delve further. Check out the "Eligible member type" and "Eligible oneworld status" headings on the SYD and MEL F lounge pages. It says QF Golds and oneworld Sapphires can access. In fact, by reading, even a Qantas Club member can access the F lounge, provided their next flight is on QF, BA or JQ. Even QF Business passengers an access the F lounge.

Next, I checked out the Singapore F lounge page. It has the same eligibility: Gold, Sapphire, Qantas Club. Even a JQ business max passenger and a QF or BA Business passenger can access the F lounge.

Have I missed something?

What about Qantas Club Annual Guest Card**?

I note that there's no definition for ** down the bottom. It looks to be something new?

Re: Galleries access... NOT quite 'reinstated'?

I'm guessing there's an error in stating that all members and FFers can enter all lounges. But the wording with respect to AA access (and no BA access) is pretty clear.

Unless... just maybe... they are preparing a new section to outline BA lounge access at Heathrow!!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

What a total and utter schmozzle :(
A major change to the QP benefits and it appears unheralded on the website looking as though updated by the work experience junior.
Not good enough QF. The communication to QP members during this entire episode has been appalling.

Re: Galleries access... NOT quite 'reinstated'?

Let's see how long it takes for QF to communicate this to all QP members, if they even do.

Strictly speaking by publishing it on the web they are communicating it. Nothing says they need to individually and personally notify you.

I think it is over and above just publishing on the internet, the clause says:

4.2 Qantas will use reasonable endeavours to advise Members of any material changes to the Benefits including by publishing the changes on the Qantas Club pages of qantas.com.

A member wide email is reasonable. Expecting a member to check lounge access each and every time they fly via the complex internet tables fly is not reasonable.

Re: Galleries access... NOT quite 'reinstated'?

So does mean the bit about being able to use T5, if flying on a QF/BA flight from Asia to T3 and then immediately transferring across to T5 for a European flight with BA has gone? I tried the link to BA on the first page of this thread and the page isn't there anymore. I wish it wouldn't keep changing every 5 minutes - it is worse than the Australian tax rules for Super! Dr FM wants to book a flight from SYD to LHR transferring to T5 and then flying to Istanbul with BA. I told her she would be able to use T5 before the Istanbul leg and T3 before flying back to Aus. Now it looks like just T3? She is PS and QP life.

Unless QF is in the process of updating their website and writing a new section outside the Partner Airlines (AA) access, then one has to assume that the previous 'I'm happy to tell you lounge access has been reinstated' and the subsequent BA release are no longer valid.

It is quite possible there will be an entire new section just covering BA lounges at T3/T5... it is specialised and not the same general nature as for AA lounges.

Re: Galleries access... NOT quite 'reinstated'?

Wow - BA has been completely erased from the site (except with reference to joint lounges and access for BA pax to QF lounges).

Seems pretty clear that QP get access to QF and AA lounges only, with everything else reverting to oneworld lounge rules.

I think that's my queue to put in for a refund for my parked QP membership.

Anyone know the best email address to send such a request to?

Another seriously considering refunding my parked QP membership. Big step, as I'm only 35% to LTG so there are a few years left before I know I definitely won't need QC membership. I'm also on a very attractive scheme so cashing out will remove me from that scheme as well. Of course, the scheme is on the way out anyway, so it might be worthwhile getting back the cash.

Am I going cross eyed, with all these changes?
From the QF website:
The ARRIVAL Lounge Heathrow - "Associated Lounge - American Airlines" - states as Eligibility Criteria (I am including just a few examples, in the interests of space. Bolding is mine.):
International First

Next onward flight that day must be a Qantas or British Airways flight.

One guest permitted and must be travelling with a member.
International Business

Next onward flight that day must be a Qantas or British Airways flight. One guest permitted if travelling on a Qantas operated and marketed flight.[SUP]^[/SUP]

No guest permitted if travelling on British Airways.
Platinum

Next onward flight
must be on a Qantas, Jetstar[SUP]+[/SUP] or oneworld flight number.[SUP]#[/SUP]

One guest allowed and must be travelling with the member

Since when did access to the Arrival Lounge depend on next onward flight?

Re: Galleries access... NOT quite 'reinstated'?

(clearly there is a stuff-up on the Qantas website - a big one)

Re: Galleries access... NOT quite 'reinstated'?

Like I said, it's as if the work experience rookie has been let loose ;)

however - not unexpected. joins the long line of issues such as black face and 'luxury is' (sorry for me to harp on... but I think the evidence now is overwhelming that something is not quite right with the various controls in place. I don't even get three chances in my field to get things wrong like this).

Anyway - no loss I suppose. This really only affects bronze flyers, not really considered commercially important?
